Shooting at US Capitol

I'd be interesting to see if they release security camera footage. Would make for a nice case study of how not to touch or reach for your gun when a LEO finds a gun on you. Then again, he may have taken aim. Seems unclear at this point. (Thanks media.... no facts, just sensationalism).

I heard two versions, one with wounded officer and suspect fired, another with wounded bystander and all shots fired by capital police.

Hard tellin, not knowin!

We just have to wait until they get their story fabri, uh,  story together.  Unfortunately I'm not talking about the suspect.

Well, has KingZero jumped on the anti-gun stump yet? Or since it's a "brother" involved there may not be a cause for alarm.  :waiting:

I certainly hope there are no idiots like him embedded in our community here.

Yeah, well...wish in one hand and :poop: in the other.

A BB gun. A BB gun was the weapon used. I love how that part isn't released until 10pm.

confused.gif I'm not sure why that would matter? He pulled it and pointed it at a Police Officer.

To me, it matters because it's not a real gun. I realize his actions were wrong. I'm not on Team Idiot here. But the buzz words of the day where shooting at Capitol. At 10 pm it's updated that he just had a BB Gun. I guess for me I'm upset with the media or whoever didn't release that fact until super late. He's an idiot for what he did. No argument there.

The problem here is that some of these bb guns and airsoft guns are realistic enough that if someone were to pull one would you want to double check that is it real or not, or respond to the threat immediately? In that kind of situation its not always easy to tell. Lots of things influence someones perception of the threat, behavior, location, position, lighting etc. No doubt he's an idiot but if he presented what could be perceived as a weapon at a security checkpoint then I think the police may have acted appropriately. What bothers me more is that he may have been a known threat from past incidents and nothing was done about it before it escalated to this...

Long way to go for suicide by cop. He was a known idiot. Was he made before he entered the security check point?

Strike three I guess.  Seems he was given the benefit of a doubt a time or two, don't know if it was because of the fact that he was a pastor, wealthy, or simply didn't do anything bad enough to incarcerate him, but he slid by.  Bad mental health is a B, could almost be disguised as activism by the looks of it.

I haven't followed the story much but what about the injured officer and witness reports of bam bam bam bam, a whole "gun clip, said by a witness" was shot?

How was he injured and how many times did security shoot at him?

P.S. All jokes aside we really can't judge security, not knowing what they saw at the time and being a nutcase is no excuse for what he did, he did put a lot of people in real danger for that stunt and should be charged for that.

I'm trying hard now not to make snap judgments on news stories because we all know what they report from the first is often far from what really happened. "Likely", security saw a man with a gun, correctly assumed he was going to commit a mass shooting and took action to stop him.
