Milling 1911 slide for RMR

Recommended Posts

I have a Springfield Loaded .45 slide sitting around doing nothing.  After seeing the RMR Glocks on M&Ps in the "Handgun forum" I was thinking, I don't have 5-600 for the RMR now, but maybe later. Anyone used someone they recommend who could mill a slide for a RMR and cowitness backup iron sights?

I'm currently not doing them, just not enough hours in the day.…..

There are several places that will do them Bowie tactical I think???

Might wanna try Morgan at Class3machining. I know he's done Glocks. He is well known for barrel threading, actually threads for some major manufacturers. He is top notch, nice guy to boot. Responds quickly on Facebook if you wanna go that route.

Considered the Springfield Custom Shop? Don't know if they offer it on individual pistols but one of their custom builds has the slide milled for the customer supplied MRDS.

Found a couple of places but it looks like the smart money is having it milled for a Doctor or Leupold as they aren't as wide.  Just looking at the possibilities.  Thanks for the suggestions.

You could also use a plate. That is mill the slide for the mounting plate and mount it to the slide then mount the optic to the plate.
