Help me choose an A/T tire.

I have run all makes and models of all terrain and mud terrain tires over the past 20 years.  Presently I am running Cooper ST Maxx tires on my truck and have had a really good experience with them.  They are slightly more aggressive than an AT but not near as much so as an MT.

David has made an excellent point here...

Cooper makes tires for lots of other entities... They make Dick Cepek and Mickey Thompson tires... Ive put a set of their house brand tires, Hercules Tires, on the son's FJ Cruiser several thousand miles ago to replace another set of Cooper built tires... Both sets have been great... The first ran about 60K, the second set (...the Hercules set...) is smooth and quiet... Cooper makes some good tires... Some of 'em dont break the bank...

Well I ended up with bfg ko2's. I looked at those and the coopers and really liked them both but they didn't have coopers in my size. I also got what I thought was a good deal on the bfg's and so far I'm happy. The vibration is gone from what I can tell. The truck rides like a log truck anyways so it's never gonna be a Cadillac ride but I couldn't take the shake.

The tires do seem to have a little more give to them left to right at highway speeds but I assume that's just a softer compound in the sidewalk. I have also read that squirleyness may go away after a few hundred miles.

I had a great experience with discount tire and feel like if I have problems they will take care of me.

Only question I have now is what psi to run. They put 60 in the front and 80 in the back which is what the truck calls for with factory tires.

I go with the factory recommendation. Read somewhere ( don't remember), from experts in the field, that, that was the way to go.

Haven't had any issues doing so.

Best recommendation I can give on air pressure is to do a chalk test on your tread.
