Para Elite Officer with crimson trace, new for $599

Been wanting a short barrel 1911 for a while. Also I am a big fan of crimson trace grips.

Found a new Para Elite officer with crimson trace for $599 at sportsman warehouse today. I jumped on it with really doing any reviews, which is unusual for me.

Anyone own one? Is this a good buy? I feel pretty confident that it is at least a good financial deal. CT 1911 grips are about $300 by themselves, but how is this gun?

The specs on it are nice. $599 for a new 1911 with all this (of course the function is the most important)

-Crimson Trace® Laser Grips
-3.5” Match-Grade Ramped Barrel
-2-Dot Dovetail Rear, Green -Fiber Optic Front
-Stainless Steel -Frame & Slide
-Skeletonized Match-Grade Trigger
-Beavertail Grip
-Ionbond© PVD Finish

I had a Para 1911 single stack government but can't remember the exact model name. It was a reliable fun gun to shoot but ended up trading it off and getting an MC Operator later. I would say price wise that was a good deal. Love the PVD finish on the new ones. I'm not a laser guy but you said you were so that probably makes the deal pretty sweet. If you do research you will find a lot of bashing from Springfield and Colt guys on other forums. I own both Colt and Springfield 1911s now but can't really say anything bad about my Para. However mine was one sample so you might have a different experience. Small 1911s can be picky from what I've read but never owned one shorter than 4".

PICS! Edited by cch2a

PICS!

As a fan of compact 1911s, I agree with you. I have several and they all seem to have a favorite load or brand of ammo. That really upsets me though.

As much as I like them, I really want my guns to utilize the same ammo. I know this can't always work out, especially in the short barreled frames.

The pickiest one I have is a S&W Pro with the 3.5 inch. It, and I, love 185 grain ball. But I get some great groups, for me, with Hornady CD 168 FTX.
