I CC almost all the time, one in the chamber and the safety off. I carry in the small of my back so im not gonna have time to fiddle with a safety if im in a crunch. I also have kids so if its not rubbing my back then its in the safe.

Weapon of choice is Ruger P345

Kimber Cocked and Locked 24/7

Kahr, one in the pipe.

Days:

.45 Kimber "ultra Elite" in Kramer #3 Horsehide IWB at 3:00.

Kahr "PM45" in Don Hume pocket holster.

(Spare Chip McCormick 8 round "Power Mag" next to wallet)

Nights:

.45 Para Ord P12 (13 rounds of .45 Hydroshoks on bedside table every night)

Good "Clint Smith" article. Forwarded it on to two of my buddys that carry (hammer down)

Thanks

Wow, I guess I am one of the only ones that carry without one in the chamber. Just got my permit this summer, I do carry concealed most places (Taurus PT145). I have a 5 year old son, so one is NEVER in the chamber. I feel like that is the best safety procedure around my son, there is no way he could chamber a round in it.

I understand an empty chamber when you aren't carrying your weapon, but what will you do if you're ever in a situation where you have to use your weak hand to push your son to safety while you draw? That extra second or two to rack the slide could mean the difference between life and death.

I always carry with a chambered round and feel that is the way to go as long as you are comfortable enough with your side arm to do so safely

One in the chamber always.

My Model 23 is always ready to rock when it's on my side...if not my glock...then maybe my shank made of fiberglass.

Yes, I carry a concealed weapon (9mm) with one in the pipe and a full mag.

I only carry when I feel that there might be trouble. And then, I never have one in the chamber because I am afraid that the gun might go off by itself and shoot me. Guns are evil. Hammers are not evil. I know both are tools, but...guns are evil. I've never heard of anyone being killed by a hammer, but guns will try and kill you every chance they get. ;) (that's 'sarcasm' for nimrods who didn't immediately get it)

On the other hand, no round in the chamber = empty gun/paperweight.

If you don't understand the machanical operation of your handgun well enough, or don't have enough faith in it to carry it loaded, you've got the wrong kind of gun.
