What does everyone use for case lube?

Recommended Posts

I have heard guys are using Hornaday's One Shot gun cleaner and dry lube. I use RCBS case lube at present but was curious what else people were using. Anyone got a good home remedy that works well?

I use Hornady and like it. The aerosol sprays are he easiest for me. Load up a tray and a couple of quick sprays is all that is needed.

Do you let the Hornady dry before sizing like you do normal lube?

Yes, but it only takes a few seconds. You don't need to put it on heavy. I spray at about a 45 degree angle down to get it on the outside and inside of the neck at the same time.

I used a mixture of 12 oz liquid Heat and 1 oz. liquid lanolin in a spray bottle. Shake well before each use. One batch lasts for several thousand rounds. Couple of sprays on a tray full of brass does the trick.

What is liquid heat? Where do you buy it? And Lanolin is like a hand lotion?

Its actually HEET, made for removing water from fuel: http://www.walmart.com/ip/HEET-Gasline-Antifreeze-and-Water-Remover/16408667  And the liquid lanolin can be had here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00028MLKC/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=25R5S1EY0JMI3&coliid=IXRRQI5DIBKHL

Works great, I mix it in a small spray bottle and it lasts a long time.

I use Lee Case lube and haven't stuck a case yet. I have a case cleaner but if lubing small quantities it can be wiped off with rag or towel.

After a few stuck cases in 7mm Rem Mag, having to buy new dies, I use Never Sez.

Do not get me started.

And again Lanolin and alcohol, still using the first batch I made since I mixed up 32 oz! I recommend you start smaller unless your loading a lot of ammo b/c a little goes a LONG way.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I'm definitely going to try the Lanolin with either HEET or Alcohol. Maybe both!!

Same here Hozzie. That's all you need to do. Doesn't contaminate primers or powders either.

I use the One Shot Case Lube, not the One Shot Dry Lube and Cleaner.

I used the one shot for a while, got a case stuck with it then moved to the homemade lanolin and high content alcohol. It satisfies my cheap streak.
