Interesting Pics of the Day

After parcel post service was introduced in 1913, at least two children were sent by the service. With stamps attached to their clothing, the children rode with railway and city carriers to their destination. The Postmaster General quickly issued a regulation forbidding the sending of children in the mail after hearing of those examples.

Below are the guns that were in Bonnie and Clyde's car when they were slain.  I'll have to give them credit for good taste in guns.

What's the story behind the mushroom cloud cake?

Yeah...that's an interesting cake.

I think the one on the left is a BAR.  I'm wondering if the one next to it is one of those Browning early model semi auto shotgun.

The left and right are BARs. I think the shotty may be a Remington Model 11 or an Auto 5. They were known to have a sawed off one of each of those, IIRC.

The Remington model 11 did not have the magazine cutoff.  The shotgun in the photo appears to have the cutoff so I would say it is a Browning A5.

I'm stumped on the babies.  I'm wondering if it is some kind of radiation, from the days before they knew radiation was dangerous.

When my mother was a child, they had an x-ray machine at the shoe store where kids would insert their feet.
