Bomb Squad Called to Dispose of Ammo

In California I would expect this, but Texas?

Most in Texas don't consider San Antonio and Austin part of the same state!  Houston and Dallas metro areas aren't far behind.

WTF?

This is the second time old ammunition has been found at the home. Just last week, the bomb squad spent about half an hour disposing of shotgun shells found there.

This has got to be the stupidest thing I've read in a while. Looks like to bomb squad just wanted something to do. I've found old ammo in the past. I disposed of it by putting it in my rifle and firing it...

75 rounds, in a sealed box? Maybe 40mm instead of 40 cal.

Now that's a little different but I still don't see any need for a bomb squad.
And they did say they disposed of shotguns shells there before. I'd say probably just rifle rounds. Edited by glowdotGlock

.40 cal isn't even dangerous right? Barley enough power to clear the barrel of most handguns.......

Call Comms...he'll straighten all this out. After all, it was 40 something.

If you got a call for boxes of free ammo, wouldn't your department respond as well? ("Stand back folks! Hey Bill, grab these and put them in our locker.")   :D

When I think of Texas, here's what I think of.  Hope it's just Austin and San Antonio that act all Californiaish.

Probably an ammo can of 30/06 or .308 in an ammo box, the article never mentions .40, it says 40 year old ammo.  Since .40 didn't come out until the 90's it rules that one out.  If it was .40 they may of busted out the robot:

The reporter in the video specifically mentions "forty caliber".  ;)

Depends, are we talking about a Glock or a different brand?

Yep. And Captain Wrongway mentioned rust. Old steel ammo didn't come in 40S&W

There is no limit to the stupidity of some people. How much did this cost the municipality?

Cost is no object when it's for the children... :) Edited by Trekbike
