How could anyone do this to a John Browning Design?

Some things just aren't right....and this is one of them.

 

Slide stop and safety don't work - those are just for decoration.

I've seen some photos of stuff like this that came out of the Phillipines right after WW2. Pretty crazy to think thatsomething as crude as this can be made to shoot.

was it made that way or did someone "fix" it after losing a part?   The slide stop is clearly a replacement but I can't tell about the safety.

If that's all you have,  and all that prevents it from working is a bolt... well yea, you do that.

It looks like someone made that thing with a peanut grinder and rat tail files!! 

That's probably about right. There's some pretty weird looking guns made in poor countries. A lot of them are made by hand too. I wonder if they made the frame tapered like that to make it easier to put in a holster?
