I'm sitting here in the waiting room at Memorial in Chatt trying to read a discussion here on TGO about hunting coyotes at night when I switched over to Wifi to conserve my data plan. BLOCKED by pansies!! I get so tired of the stupidity. I bet I could look up all sorts of other junk using their wifi, but they'll block a site that contains content fully protected by a constitutional amendment. I fought this battle at Erlanger Women's East once. I was blocked there... I wrote an email... TGO was not blocked the next time I was at the waiting room. That was a few years ago, so I don't know if it stuck.

I know they just block anything that deals with weapons, etc. on the network security. Don't get me wrong... I am thankful for the free Wifi, but it is frustrating.

I switched back to data for now. I may write a nice, education email later to request this site not be blocked. I don't have high hopes though Edited by Wingshooter

Many places rely on commercial firewalls that have many sites like this blocked, their IT guys will unblock sites if you email them so they can personally check it out and make sure it meets their guidelines.

Think you have it bad, here at Ft Campbell, well our compound anyway, blocks most gun related YouTube videos?? But I guess you can't really blame the military, they just run YouTube on Restricted Mode which makes most gun vids unavailable.  Many photo hosting sites are blocked also, so any posts here get little boxes instead of pics.  If the photos were hosted by the site they would show up, but sites like photobucket are blocked.

Just for FYI, Vanderbilt Children's doesn't block much. Spent about 5 full weeks there starting this time last year.

Lol I figure what's a couple more.

Eh, like Chucktshoes (I believe?) said, and I agree with, if I'm not on at least a couple government watchlists, someone at the NSA isn't doing their job.

True that. Sonicwall has a default setting that blocks such sites. All you do is report it to Sonicwall or your security team and they unblock it. Not a big deal.

You're right, he won't do it... Because the hospital should have redundant gig connections.

Good luck!

The redundancy is primarily for outages from providers.  The hospital should have two completely separate ISPs for that reason; each of those connections should also dump ddos and block IPs the traffic is coming from automatically.

But after hearing about that stupid hospital in LA getting hit with ransomware and having to pay out, makes me think there's a good amount of incompetent people running IT programs...even at hospitals where it is literally life and death so that place may very well be setup on a single comcast baseband connection. :D
