Fobus Kydex-Way too tight. Help!

I picked up a Fobus Kydex paddle for my P11 for 10 bucks. Has anyone tried to loosen the fit on one of these riveted kydex jobs before? How did you go about it?

I've read many times that big watt hairdryer is the ticket for reforming kydex holsters.

I agree... Fobus is a bad choice. Only way I'd buy one would be if I had the sole intention of pop riveting it under my car dash / console. And even then it would be a poor choice... especially with a Glock. I'd probably accelerate from a stop light and shoot my ass off. Twice!

(Glock + Fobus = TEOTWAWKI!!!11one)

Toss it in the microwave. lol. If it warms up enough to "form" it some, cool deal. If it melts into a puddle of goo... well... write off the $20 and go buy a better holster.

IMHO, the best fix for the Fobus is to toss it away and buy a Blackhawk.

Im guessing forbus dose not have the adjustment screws like uncle mikes do? I have uncle mikes Kydex holsters for my glock 17 and beretta 92fs and i love em

The hairdryer sounds like a good idea I never would have thought of that!

I have never tried this either but that is what you form them with.

To each their own, I carried a Kimber for over 3 years in a Fobus paddle holster, I absolutely loved it I now have one of their newer models for my Glock 21SF and I love it as well, they have always fit my guns perfectly and in my opinion they are the best bang for the buck for a holster that you need not wear a belt for

I had one for a Makarov.It was tight but a little work with a dremel fixed it in no time.BTW I have had to take the dremel to Uncle Mikes holsters as well.You can save a little $ and modify the cheaper holsters to fit better than the more expensive ones I have found.

Got one of those Forbus things for my J-frame. Took both arms and one leg to pull the gun out of the holster. Worked on it with a dremel tool and only takes two arms now, maybe I'll try the hairdrier before I break my belt or tear my drawers off.--MP

FWIW, I'm a bit of a redneck engineer. Here were the steps....

Take hair dryer to holster

Insert pistol

Wait 30 min

Take hair dryer to holster

Insert pistol with two layers of de-tacked masking tape around trigger guard

Wait 1 hr

Practice drawing and controlled pairing with snap caps for 15 min

Fin......

I agree will willis68. The Fobus is a great holster for what it is, lightweight and cheap. I carry a Glock 22 in one every single day with no complaints.

Everyone is correct. Use a hairdryer and a dremel. I have had to do this to a couple of fobus holsters. My P-11 only needed a like dremel touch but my glock 22 needed a hairdryer and a dremel. They got both of them in a trade but would not buy one unless it was cheap.
