I have been thinking about getting one. I shoot idpa with the full size and like to carry what I shoot. Is there that much of a difference in the 2? Thanks in advance, Scott

None really if you exclude the 5" pro. Buy the standard and get Apex duty kit. Look at different sights. I am fond of warren rear sight and dalton fiber optic front.

I have the apex fss on both of mine and have made a big good difference. I have the  ameriglo on my full size, with my old eyes the fibers just weren't bright or big enough. But I have been looking at the warren pretty hard thinking maybe putting the ameriglo on the front.

I *have* carried my 5" Pro a couple times, but only when way out in the sticks, and kinda' just for fun. I also have a regular 4.25" fullsize, a compact, and a Shield. I carry the Shield probably 85% of the time, the compact 12%, and the fullz size or Pro once in a blue moon. 97% of the time I'm concealing. The 3% are woods walks, etc.

To boil it down, the only real difference (for carry) is .75" of slide between the full size and 5" Pro. Grip and mags are exactly the same. If you like carrying around a gun that big anyways, is .75" a deal breaker for you? Edited by musicman

I carry my M&P9 fullsize in the waistband in a Rigid Holsters brand IWB holster. It's just like a Alien Gear holster and my M&P feels great.
