A suspect in connection to the string of random shootings that has left six dead and left three others injured was arrested early Sunday, Michigan authorities said.


Kalamazoo Police Chief Jeff Hadley told Fox 17 Online a “strong possible suspect” was in custody after the shootings in Kalamazoo County.

The gunman was described as a white male in his 50s and was seen driving a blue Chevy HHR before his apparent arrest.

Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Paul Matyas told Fox 17 Online that people were killed at a Cracker Barrel restaurant in Texas Township, while two others were killed at Seelye Kia.

An 8-year-old child was among those killed at the restaurant, according to WOOD-TV. Officials said a father and a son were killed at the dealership.

Police believe the shootings are related to an earlier drive-by shooting at Meadows Townhomes, which left one woman injured.

Such a sad story, I hope the other 3 victims pull through. I was just talking to my uncle yesterday and we were talking about gun laws there. 10 rounds per magazine and so on. Handguns are registered at police stations. It's strange to me. He was in awe when I was laughing at him. I guess as bad as we think we have it, it could be worse. I'm glad they caught the bastard last I read they didn't even have an accurate vehicle color.

I think the Fox News story is updated with the shooters name.  I admit I read quickly through the story looking for a Muslim name as the shooter, but it wasn't his name was Jason Dalton.  So for a moment I was admittedly profiling the shooter.  Shame on me.

Can't help but to think politically these days, it's tragic and sad and right now i'm sure for the families that the motives don't matter. As soon as I heard about it I thought about how fast Obama will jump on this for an opportunity to spew his anti-gun politics. I know it's sad to think that way but it's the reality of the times and rest assured that we will hear from Obama today about it. Well not we, as soon as I see his face on TV he gets the auto mute button from me.

And I do feel bad for the families, I can't know how that feels, I and all of us have lost someone before, we know how it feels but the shock of a loved being murdered in a senseless way by some lowlife psycho is a feeling I don't know and of course hope never know.

I was wrong. Apparently only 6 victims so far, they mis-reported the 14 year old as deceased. Luckily she's hanging in there.

Off topic but I'm almost positive Michigan does not have a 10 round limit. They do require registration though.

Thats had for me to say, my uncle is a bit older now, so he could be wrong. I'm not certain but when we were talking about purchases I made around Christmas and whatnot he asked about capacity. He mentioned 10 round limitations. I'd have to look into it to know for sure. I'll look and see.

There is no limits on mag cap in MI and they do indeed still have handgun registration.

Another reason to use an Uber! He was allegedly taking fares between his attacks. How insane is that?!

Side note: I did too do some digging and there is no magazine limit. My uncles into his 70's and has a little bit of dementia, he no longer has his guns. His daughters had to take them. So it was probably something he got confused on. He just likes to talk cars and guns when I call, I'm apparently the nephew he never got. LOL

On a more serious note.

-My prayers go out to those families affected by this. I remember a psychology professor once telling me that a very small percentage of the population have an undiagnosed serious mental illness that won't become directly apparent in their actions until a major stressor triggers a sudden behavior change. It sounds like this man was part of that small percentage and something that day triggered this. I hope we learn what it is but I fear we may never know.

I lived near all those places at some point in my life and that was the first cracker barrel I ever ate at. When I was texted by friend I could not belive it was all random. I guess I was wrong.
