Thoughts? Star Model B vs Hi Power

I'd like to hear from you guys about the Star Model B and the Hi Power.  Pros, Cons, thoughts?

This. Also, the HP is legendary and even the FM, FEG, and other clones tend to be very good. Parts, accessories, and mags also are far easier to find for the HP as well.
IMO, there's not really an apples to apples comparison between the two.

There's really no comparison as the Star Model B is a 1911 pattern style 9mm single stack large frame for caliber class service pistol. The FN/Browining P-35 HP is a slightly smalller, slightly wider double stack 9mm service pistol that holds five more rounds in its magazine. Even better it's slightly lighter then the Model B. Some Model B variants were and are truly exceptionally well made pistols, others are clunkers. With the exception of some of the Nazi produced BHP pistols and early Ingles models any older BHP is only limited by how worn it is.

Don't own a HP, but have had the opportunity to shoot them a few times. I like the ergos over a 1911 pattern.

I've owned more than several Star BMs, the compact 9 x 19 and one alloy framed compact I think called the BKM.  I have only had one HP.  Plenty of written about HPs.  Here is a link about Star's.  http://star-firearms.com/firearms/

 

I have nothing against either pistol.  I don't own them any longer because I think Glocks and 1911s are better Save Your Butt pistols than either Star or HP.  I think the HP is an iconic design where the Star is a functional design.

I have a couple Hi Powers, a FEG clone and a Star Model Super B. I like the Super B because of the easy takedown, but I would always choose the Hi Power for a little more money...they are one of my favorite pistols.

 Personaly, I would select the Hi Power over a Star. The Star has a barrel bushing that in many cases adds to more lateral barrel movment making larger paper groups. J Browning eliminated the barrel bushing on the P35 design and that in its self improves the accuracy of the weapon to a degree. My first handgun was a HP back in 1981 But I sold that long ago. Recently, I could not pass up this fake FN HP made by FEG for just over $300 OTD. Its surface finish is not exactly Browning quality but tight in all the important areas, making a great shooter. IMO, the recently imported FEG guns on GB are one of the best bang for the buck buys right now. Here's my Stamped FN FEG with after market grips compared to a K40.
