Maybe you should post up an invitation to be printed out. Well, I have that pin saved in my collections, so I can just type my address and get directions.

OK...we need geographic coordinates of the driveway turnoff. :D

Looks about 35°57.550'N; 84°25.108'W

I love my GPS unit.

How about someone who knows where they are going meet some of us in an easy to find location and lead the way. I can't say that I've ever willingly gone to Oak Ridge before.

Branket is right. The thread is the invitation for the time and date stated. The range is on private property and not open to the general public.

We will be out there at 1000. Any time y'all want to show up after that is fine with me and up to y'all.

The owner of the property (John Sterling) requires a $10.00 range fee and waiver to be signed by all those entering the range. In exchange you will receive secure parking, public restroom facilities, shuttle service for the 400 meters between the parking area and the range, campfire area, use of a gas grill and food prep tables. I will provide a safe shooting environment, covered firing points, shooting tables, target stands, target backers, clay targets, a clay thrower, large drink cooler and ice so you can chill your drinks.

You provide your firearms , ammo and targets. sniper.gif

Don't forget to bring your hot dogs, burgers, steaks, chicken or whatever and what ever fixin's you require.

A few things to mention:

  • You may charge magazines behind the line but do not load firearms until on the line.
  • If the range is cold you will see an orange flag displayed from the center support of the firing point cover or in the case of the steel range on the pole next to the firing box.
  • If you plan to shoot steel targets please do so with all lead bullets only. No FMJ or JHP or steel bullets on the steel range.
  • Anything except incendiary rounds (tracers) goes on the rest of the range.
  • These and all other range rules will be posted prominantly at the range.

Here's an overhead image of the farm and range area. Don't know what the GPS coordinates are so I'll rely on Marswolf's input here. If you would like to get explicit directions (turn by turn complete with distance and landmarks etc.) and a cell phone number to call in case you get lost (there are NO signs) PM me and I will be happy to send them right out as I log on and check messages.

I edited the coordinates to make them more accurate, now that i know where the turnoff is, and also more GPS friendly.

142.67 miles one way from home by road.

wow!

VERY nice Mike!! dang it...now that its going on, I think I'm going to take a couple of family members that come down for the wedding..if they're here, and they want to go, I'm going!!! Julie will understand I hope.

All is well here, I just shelled out 2500 for a wedding band (another karat from kays jewlers) so Julie is happy!

I guess the guys that made the last meet will find relief in this range.

Mike, whats the longest range that you have for rifle? I was wondering because I intend to hand over the L1A2 to Boom for an extended stay at his house. its a 308 and is perfect for a SHTF scenario...so I'd like him to be able to get it sighted in for himself. If he can't make it, I'll wait till next month to bring it out.

Its also a great way for me to finagle a new rifle....julie doesn't like the weight of the L1...its 11 lbs,so she wants an AR in .308....so I can buy her an AR and keep the m1a2!

*sigh* its good to be King!

Mars wolf is right. No turning back now Towerclimber.

Bring anyone you wish. BTW the longest lane that I have at this point is only 100 yds. By this time next year that will be expanded to 200 yds. Gotta get a new chainsaw and a new back.

The more the merrier!

I also got a gun case for my rifle--I didn't have an extra blanket or towel to wrap it in. Also, phantom, I'll just end up borrowing my grandfather's cleaninng set whe nI get back to the house.

That'll work. Clean your firearms every time you shoot and they will provide a lifetime of sure and steady service.

They've lasted 46+ years, most probably under that principle.

Guys....I don't know if I'll be able to make it to this one or not. We have a church function that same Sat., but I'm not sure exactly what times it will be taking place. I have to find out some more details.

I have a great idea. I recieved my copy of "The Gang" today, a movie about how corrubt the BATFE is. If someone want to bring a TV and or DVD player, Maybe we should set off some time to watch it. I say and or because I have a TV, but I don't have a DVD player (I watched it on my labtop). I just finished watching it and it was rather good if you can stand the "documentary" style of interviewing people inbetween the sections discreditiing and humiliating the BATFE.

EDIT:

I could just take my labtop, but the the screen is rather small. The important parts are in the audio, so it might work. We got two weeks to work it out.

No electricity at the range area.

That wouldn't be a problem except that it's 35 minutes longer than my labtop lasts on a good day. So I guess it's down the drain. It wasn't the reason we're going anyway. Just thought it might be nice. (You can read about it and/or buy it at www.thegangmovie.com)
