Anybody use Herco in .45 ACP?

I just wondered if anybody had any good loads for Herco in .45? I'm about to start loading for .45 and I've got a lot of Herco. I'm mostly interested in bullets in 200gr.-230 gr. Thanks.

It will - I think it burns similiarly to unique - at least from the powder charge weights.

The Speer #12 or #13 has load data for 230gr IIRC.

Starting loads were low around 5.6 with a MAX near 7.1gr I believe I have my stuff in storage now so I couldnt give you a picture of the book

Thanks I appreciate it. Since I first posted I found a older No#10 Speer that had several loads in it. I forgot I even had a No#10 manual.

Coms hit the nail on the head here... We used to use Herco, and it burns about like Unique... We used the 7.0 recipe with the 230 grain hardball loads with good results... Herco used to be used more than it is now.. A bit more velocity with heavier bullet weights...

Hope this helps...

Used to use it a lot. Then switched to Unique. Really makes some smoke when using cast boolets and was kinda dirty as I recall. I can still smell the lube!
