Bersa magazine disconnect

I'm looking into buying a Bersa Thunder .380 but I don't like magazine disconnects. Were they ever offered without this option?

There is a 10 second fix for it. Mine has been gone for a long time. Google will instruct and it's very easy to do.

As I said in the other thread, you might also look for a Makarov if you are OK with used.   One of the top 10 most accurate pistols I have owned, and I have some  good ones.   Its very similar to these frames you are looking at.  I carried one for 10, maybe 15 years in a pocket.   Upgraded to the sig 938 after a couple of in-between guns.  Ive tried the others and none of them seemed as well made and accurate.

The Makarovs are a bit bigger as I recall. The ppk is about as big as I dare go for this next pistol

There are plenty of pistols that are smaller than the PPK. They are also a lot lighter. The PPK is a nice weapon but it is HEAVY for what it is.

 

I recently seen brand new Heizer Defense pistols for sale for under $200. They are pretty small for what they bring. If you are wanting a traditional semi auto there are plenty of choices out there that are both smaller AND lighter than the PPK. They may not be as pretty but the pistols I am talking about beat out the PPK when you count only the things that matter, size and weight and power.

 

A Keltec PF9, which is 9mm, is 1/2 the weight of a PPK and is a significant upgrade over the 380 in terms of power. It is also less than 1/2 the price too. If you want to compared the 380 Keltec to the 380 PPK the differences are even more significant. The PPK weighs 22 ounces, which is almost 1.5 pounds, and the Keltec 380 is almost 1/3 the weight at 8.3 ounces. The PPK is 1" thick while the Keltec P3AT is .77". And most compact polymer framed guns will have similar specifications.

 

Even the Smith and Wesson M&P 9 Compact weighs less than the Walther PPK in 380. Even a 9mm Glock is lighter than the PPK.

 

If you want a PPK to want one that is cool but it is hardly the lightest, smallest, thinnest or most powerful "pocket" pistol.

They way they shoot matters too. I sold the Keltec P11 I had. Maybe the recoil spring was worn out.. but it hurt to shoot standard 115gr fmj out of it. The trigger was super long and heavy too. The screws that hold the grip to the frame kept falling out even with loctite. It's also ugly.

I like the look, feel, and trigger of the PPK. I'm accurate with it and it just barely fits the pocket role. It fits better than the P11 for sure.

I agree there are "better" guns but I own things like 1911s, M1 Garands and others for a reason. I just like them.

The DB380 is my practical choice. I want to shoot one before I pay for it though. Maybe I could like it then?
