Vehicle Carry

I like the simplicity of that, and the coated magnet protecting the finish of the slide. How much does it take to get it loose? Could you get into a fender bender without it getting knocked out?

This was how I approached the same question about a year ago.

It takes a good amount off effort to come loose. I me sure a small fender bender it would stay put but if I got the crap knocked out of me in a wreck it would hit the floor probably

They have the gun mags but Ive also seen OWB holsters being clipped to the doors.

I carry NY style with it in my lap or in a cup holder. Its fun scaring baristas with a scary assualt glockatron bullet buttoneer

In one of my former cars, I could wedge a gun in a Remora in the space on the right side of the driver's seat.  Having seen a video of a guy doing somersaults wearing a Remora, I wondered if the gun would stay in place in a rollover.

Recently, I tried the same method in my wife's new Outback.  The gun was secure, but I noticed there was an airbag tag on the right side of the seat; who knows what would have happened if it deployed while the gun was there.  I learned that day that there are not many places in an Outback for a full-size 1911.  I have to remove the huge owner's manual from the glove compartment to fit the gun in there.

Now I am new to the group, and I'm sure this topic has been beaten to death. That being said I am still interested in all the different ways that members carry in their vehicles. I looked high and low for a way to carry in my truck, and I couldn't find a holster or a DIY way to carry that I really liked. Then I found this CoJo gun magnet and so far I really like it. It says you can screw it to the dash (or where ever you want to mount it) but screws in dash plastic strip and fall out or become loose, so I riveted it to the dash. So let me know how you carry in a vehicle or opinions on gun magnets

Secondary collision.

Yea a collision will be down fall of this magnet. But I am thinking of adding a safety strap to the part that look like belt slots to help my pistols stay in place while using it

I Chicago screwed this Versa Carry onto the sidewall of my driver's seat.  Put some Gorilla tape over the screws.  Works, doesn't take up much room and it was cheap - someone got disgusted with the Versa Carry and gave it to me.  If memory serves I threw part of it away that wouldn't work for this application and may have had to cut part of the plastic.

It's probably already been said, and I know everyone knows this, but if you are going to mount a handgun in your vehicle, be sure and give some thought to what might happen in a car accident.  I would hate to have a handgun without an external safety - ala Glock, flying around the car with an open trigger guard.

-in fact, I would hate to have any handgun flying around the car... for any reason!  Pick a holster and mounting method appropriate for the application.

I've got the "Gum Creek" setup in my Dodge Charger and it works perfectly.  Down under the steering column with a generic holster for my Glock 19.  Out of the way, not readily visible, but easy to use.  Highly recommend for most vehicles.  I have also used it in an F150 and it worked great in there also.  B

That is a great point and one that I considered when I used the Versa Carry thing a ma bob, as I had Black Hawk retention holster mounted in a similar place in a former vehicle but I couldn't get it to fit in this one.  I have only used the versa holster method when I have gone into a place where handguns are not allowed, then tossed a towel or something over the seat to cover the pistol.  Now that you bring this up again I may give this another look as like most of us I have a box of holsters doing nothing but gathering dust.
