New and a question

I have rolacated to Tennessee, I love it here. What exception might there be to armed security guard training and concealed carry to a former federal law enforcement officer...I have no legal restrictions to obtaining either. Thanks...

Welcome to Knoxville from a nearby Sevier County resident. Can't answer your question about Exceptions (not even sure what you mean unless checking to see if you can avoid the HGC Permit process and expense of that).

However, if interested in obtaining a HGC Permit --- I did it with Dusty: Class at a Church in Strawberry Plains a few miles east of Knoxville on a Friday Evening and Qualifying Shooting was at a Range in Kodak on Saturday (that rangeis now closed - I understand he is doing the qualifying at the TWRA Range on Rifle Road in Knoxville which is an outdoor range).

His class was $40 and the range fee was $10 - Then the state at DMV after you pass the class gets you for $100 to $115 (amount depends on when your driver license expires as they are switching to having all HGC come due when your driver license comes due). I only had 2 year left on Driver License and my fee was $102. The $102 fee covers the cost of a Fingerprint which I did at an UPS Business.

Only took about 8 to 10 days for the whole procedure from start to getting my permit.

Start Here with application to get authorization number to take the class. https://apps.tn.gov/handgun/ There is a list of class instructors on that web site.

Dusty's Phone Number is 865 742 4043 if you want to sue him (recommend him since you are in Knoxville).
