New Bushcraft Sheath

Here is a new sheath I made today for my Fallkniven F1.  It has a loop for a Gobspark Ranger fire steel and a pocket for a DMT mini diamond stone.  I'm hoping to start making these to add to my Etsy shop.  I need to tweak the design a little bit, but I'd like to hear some feedback on how I can make it better.  I am switching over to black Durable DOT snaps and black oxide Chicago Screws.  I'm hoping to find some black oxide tubular rivets as well.  I'd like to add a metal eyelet/grommet to the bottom lanyard hole, but haven't found any long enough yet.  The sheath has a filler along the back of the sheath to help protect the stitching from the blade.  Stitching is a little rough in a couple of spots, which is my fault for getting in a hurry on a new machine I'm not used to yet.  

 

Any feedback would be helpful.

Looks good to me, can't see anything wrong with the design and everything else looks great. A welt is what the sandwiched part is called, at least that's what I've always called it.

I like it...a lot. The only thing that kinda jumped out to me is the snap on the pouch seems really big compared to the size of pouch/sheath. Just an observation/opinion.

I'd definitely add an grommet where the lanyard runs through. I wouldn't mind a grommet in the sheath where the knife rests, either. With a leather sheath in the field, I like something to get the water out.

I'd probably run my belt through the lower part, but that's just because I like my knife to ride a bit higher.

Very nice! I like the option to wear it high or low. Maybe add some Chicago screws instead of rivets where the top loop attaches so it could be easily removed if someone wanted.

Just a personal preference but I like the sheaths that come up a little higher on the knife.  Right now you have the top of the sheath terminating right at the guard.  Coming up about 1/4 of the handle would really improve the look IMHO.  Make it look more beefy.  Again just a personal preference.  Nice work!

 

EDIT:  I do like the firesteel loop being part of the pouch!  Makes it more compact.

I'll agree yours and Mac's ideas that the lanyard hole needs a grommet, a small opening at the tip would allow water to drain (it may be open now, can't really tell from the pics) and consider swapping the Chicago screws for rivets. 

 

You might consider a way to make the upper loop removable.  Seems like it would be annoying if the wearer used the lower loop and left the upper one free. 

 

You might also survey the various sharpening stones and see how many different types the pocket could accommodate.  A slight tweak in the size might allow more options.

Looks good. I need to acquire some leather here real soon and make a sheath for my buddy's Esee 5. I've been thinking of the sort of "convertible" idea you have there, where the pouch and ferro rod loop can be removed. I like the way you've done that.
