I've worn Google out on this and haven't found a suitable answer so I just thought at I would check and see if anyone has used a US Cellular phone on the Straight Talk network?  Best that I can tell it's not possible but I'm hoping someone that is more technologically savvy than myself can point out something that I may be missing.  Phone is a Galaxy S5 if it matters.  This is gun related because I'll shoot my old phone if I can get this one to work.

U.S. Cellular is tied with Verizon Wireless if you can get the phone unlocked you should be able to connect it to the Straight Talk Verizon re-seller network.

Thanks

That's what I thought.  The phone is unlocked.  US Cellular was actually really nice about unlocking it.  But when I put my SIM card into the phone it doesn't work.  It recognizes the SIM card but says that there is no network available.

Okay, when you say your SIM card, what exactly do you mean? Do you mean your US Cellular SIM card, or do you mean the new Straight Talk CDMA Sim card? Are you sure Straight Talk set you up for the verizon CDMA network and not the GSM network? (which your phone won't work on.)

This is where I am getting stuck and lost.  I am already a Straight Talk customer, I just have an unlocked US Cellular phone that I was trying to switch to.  I'm currently using a Sprint phone on the Straight Talk network.  This is where it gets weird.  I was on the Ting network for a few months.  I was using this Sprint phone on Ting.  Then I took the Sprint phone to the Straight Talk network.  When I switched to Straight Talk I had issues getting the SIM card to work (I had bought the Straight Talk starter pack that has a SIM for about anything, don't waste your money on that BTW.).  The tech support guy at Straight Talk was helping me through it and asked if I had a SIM card with 5XXX on it, I did have that SIM card but it was my Ting SIM card.  So, I've been using the Ting SIM in my Straight Talk phone for several months, not sure how that works.  On top of not understanding when I called Straight Talk to try to get the new phone running they told me that it is not compatible with their network.  Therefore if it is possible to use this US Cellular phone I'm going to have to figure it out without Straight Talk's help.  BTW, best I can tell Sprint and Verizon phones use the same SIM card.

Straight Talk supports both AT&T and Verizon re-seller are you sure the SIM is connected to Verizon vs AT&T.  Also if that is an LTE 4G it is likely that Straight Talk will need to ad the MEIZ (sp?) to there network.

Thanks

That is a little strange as it is a CDMA SIM since the Sprint phone would have required a CDMA SIM. Yeah, not sure how the Ting SIM has been working on Straight Talk. ST is often times weird in getting phones to work through them. Wish I could help more.

Ting supports both t-mobile and sprint.  CDMA 3G as used under Sprint and Verizon is connected to phone itself not a sim like AT&T and t-mobile.  So you will have to call ST and give them information about your phone it isn't as simple as just plugging in a sim card.

Thanks

Robert
