Colt Python at TN Gun Country

There was a guy in that area that sold a bunch of "NIB" unfired Colts a few years ago.  I bought a late 70's Detective Special from him.  If I had to guess, that was the source.  There was a 4" nickel Python and 6" blued Python in his collection, but I wouldn't pay his prices.

Just came back from TN Gun Country were they had a unfired 4 inch Colt Python. And they only wanted $3200 for it.

Edit there this one.

Is that a joke ? They are a very good shop but I just dont see how this revolver could be priced that high .

Not a joke and it's not terribly uncommon to see these priced like this.  Colt Snake guns have been on an unexplained ( In my Opinion) inflated price trend for a few years now.  I think these prices are at or about peak and we should see a downward trend in the next couple of years.  This is just my opinion and so I could be totally wrong.

My brother worked a gun show in Charlotte NC this weekend and he saw two Pythons sell in that range. Said it happens about every gun show he attends.

I think Pythons are like S&W Registered Magnums, although much more plentiful, in the fact that they are known to be top quality handmade revolvers and those that can afford them will pay it. I don't think the prices will ever come down. They will rise just like machine guns because colt will never make them like this again even at today's prices they are still a worthwhile investment.

That wasn't an unrealistic price at all for a really clean Python. I know a guy who bought one that had begun to lose its nickle plating and needed a rebuild who still spent close to a grand on it. That really wasn't to long ago either.

Pythons were absurdly priced when they were still being made (like all Colt's).  Unless the Millennials and their offspring completely lose their minds over AR's and plastic-fantastic pistols the prices will only increase.  As both will one day be on the guvment chopping block those revolver prices will only skyrocket.
