1942 SMLE Enfield No.4 Mk.1, marked US Property. The "S" rollmark indicates it was made in the US by Savage-Stevens to be shipped to Britain under Lend-Lease. American Black Walnut stock is a lot nicer than what you usually see on SMLEs, and the numbers match on the bolt and rifle. I also managed to score the correct and Savage built spike bayonet for it.

Makes a nice companion to my 1945 US Rifle, .30 Caliber M1. :D

Are the us ones .303 British or were they rechambered to .308?

btw... I'm looking for a replacement bolt head, marked with the number 3 for it. I may have headspace issues.

These are an interesting footnote to the history of the British battle rifle and some sources I've read claim these were of higher quality in terms of fit, finish and raw material than the English made. Excellent find.
