Recommend a contractor in Knoxville

I am needing some work done as well as repair some shoddy work by a previous contractor.

Please recommend contractors you have personal knowledge of or have used in the past.

Called one yesterday to get an estimate and they said I MUST have an email address or they would not do the work. Yes, I have an email but not going to give it out until we meet and discuss the work to be done. And trying to give an honest estimate for custom work is really hard to do over the phone, internet or email. A contractor who wants to give an estimate without even stepping on the property means they are either going to upcharge later or do crappy work to ensure they make a profit. Seriously, what kind of contractor would give estimates without even knowing what I am wanting?

Anyways, needing a contractor that can do roofing, tree cutting, additions and possible landscaping work.

Or if you can recommend someone to do these things I will make the calls and act as my own contractor.

This biggest thing right now is we need someone to add onto our house.

I'm guessing you've already checked Angie's List and your local BBB because your street savvy that way. FWIW I found out the hard way it was easier to hire the people needed for the specific jobs I needed done in the necessary order. I know what your looking for is a home improvement business to line up all of that for you but that's gotten a bit more difficult lately. Insofar as adding onto the house please do your due diligence there as well because its often less expensive to simply sell and buy a bigger house. Yeah I know, it shouldn't be that way but it is. Best of luck to you and I'd been wondering how you and the Mrs. were doing.

We are adding a covered porch, a trellis and fixing roofing issues from when ProTech builders added the garage and then refused to fix issues related to their poor work.

Not a lot of work needs to be done and definately not worth selling the house over.

Man that's not really that big of a project you should be having people falling all over themselves bidding on it this time of year. If you have a Mennonite or Amish Community near by I'd contact them. They might not work as cheaply as some other companies who hire "immigrant's" but the works is always of good quality.

Does ANYONE know ANYONE to call to put a tile in at the end of our driveway and spread some gravel. Been trying for about 2 months now and no one wants to work. I have cash in hand but no one wants it.

We are at a point now I am about to rent the equipment and hire someone to drive it.

Hoods Handyman Service did some work for me that included excavation, concrete, block, and brick work...they do carpentry also...I'd use them again. They get pretty good reviews on AngiesList.

If you need a good contractor I can highly recommend one.  I don't think he does landscaping and drainage, but he did put a new roof on our house, has installed hardwood flooring throughout the lower level, replaced windows, painted the house, and built the most beautiful screened-in porch ever.  He and his crew are Christians and he is actually an ordained minister (although he works as a full-time contractor).  I know one of my neighbors had him re-build their chimney and another one had a complete bathroom makeover with tile and a fancy walk-in shower.  He also re-roofed my dad's house and replaced two bad areas of floor for him.  I trust him completely.  The only negative is that sometimes he is a little booked up so it depends on how big of a hurry you're in.  I'll send you a PM with his name and number.  B
