What... they suspend you if you have gun stuff up?

I suppose so. I had already removed myself from all of the gun groups. I'm guessing they punished me for an ad I listed shortly before deciding to leave the groups. They don't give an exact reason. I have 12 more hours to go.

I signed up. That place seems kinda scattered about. I think it might take some getting used to.

I agree and I signed up, but it appears everyone and their brother is creating a group. Other than the link posted here I didn’t even see TGO listed. At first glance I don’t see any reason why anyone from here would use that instead of this forum; but maybe I’ll figure it out.

This is really disheartening. I don’t use Facebook much, but the family posts stuff there so I use it. I have never been to any gun trading pages, I never got around to looking for them; guess it’s too late.

I hate to see that these spoiled liberal rich kids can shut off what they don’t think is right. Don’t get me wrong; I don’t question their right to do it. Mark Zuckerberg built a company worth 245 billion dollars (more than Walmart) from his college dorm room; so I wouldn’t think he is stupid. So how can he think that banning gun owners from Facebook will help in any way shape or form?

Facebook and Google won’t miss a beat with their anti-gun polices. The people that won’t use Facebook over their anti-gun policies probably didn’t use it anyway. Anyone that is serious about doing a search will still use Google. Google isn’t the only game in town, but they are so far ahead of the competition, the completion can’t see their taillights.

They can shut us off, but if anyone suggested to them they ban the stoners and the druggies; that would never fly. Pitiful.

I know...every Tom, Dick and Harry has started a group and I haven't quite figured out how to navigate that place to find anything. I mean...if you post a gun for sale does everyone see it or only the groups you join? I guess you'd have to join 50 groups to gain exposure....or just stay here.

Went there but didn't poke around too much, care to enlighten me on what it is?  Looks like a collection of other gun related sites, what makes it different than just being here on TGO?

Agreed.... but looking at the other groups on there, I might sign up on "Lock N Load With Lindsay" :dirty:

I will stay here unless forced to the other site.

Anonymous-backed alternate under development

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/super-private-social-network-launched-to-take-on-facebook-with-support-of-anonymous-10325307.html

Well, I am sure there will be alternates.  Not sure Anonymous would be any better harbor...

A new social network, backed by members of Anonymous, hopes to take on Facebook and the other social media giants with a commitment to privacy, security and transparency about how posts are promoted.

The site, Minds.com, has the same basic options as any other social network: users send updates to their followers, who can comment or promote posts that they read. But unlike its competitors it doesn’t aim to make money from gathering data — instead, it encrypts all messages, so that they can’t be read by advertisers or by governments.

The app’s other big differentiating feature from other networks is that it rewards people for interacting with posts, by voting, commenting or uploading. Users are given points that can then be exchanged for views, meaning that the posts of active members will be more promoted by the network.

Gun District was mentioned in this article along with another social site called "MeWe"  Their terms of use seems pretty basic... don't break the law, no hate speech, no pornography, no stalking, etc.  I might check them out.

Another thing to keep in mind about facebook for those who still use it for some things is this. All those ads give facebook kickbacks if you click on them. Even if one says free colt 1911 and date with sarah palin don't click it. Why should we put money in anti's pockets if we can help it? I wish a competitor for ebay would come up since they are so anti-gun

I know a couple gun groups that have put up a "just in case" alternative on MeWe. That might be the new home.

Sitting here researching them… saw an article where it said MeWe has 1,315 groups in the hunting and sportsmen section.  Not sure if they're all gun groups but that's quite a few for a start-up social media site.

Went thru 5 pages of a google search and it's mostly about gun groups going to MeWe.

So there's quite a few gun groups on there… even Canadians.  There's Nashville guns,  East TN guns, mid TN guns and more.  And not just a couple members but hundreds in each group.  Some you can join, others you have to apply.  Signing up is easy.  No need for a profile pic or "about me" and you can turn off the search so no one can find you.   :hiding: Just sign up and join gun groups.  B)
