Best Pizza in Greater Nashville area is...?

That is what gives the NY crust its taste. That and home made sauce with the acid strained, fresh basil and a brick oven. Oh and good mozz is also a plus.

And actually NYC's water ranks 7th (maybe 9th now) in the Nation - according to my neighbor who works for the DEP.

If those standards arent met then its flavored cardboard.

Ill be in Nashville tomorrow and will test this so called pizza

I don't drink La Vergne's or Nashville's water unless I absolutely have no choice. The others I suspect are fresh made and their oven is brick. They even sell mozzarella balls to take home. They make the food up daily, and when they run out they're done for the day and you should have been there earlier. I recommend you getting there between 11:00 and 11:15 if you're gonna go.

Joey's opens at 11:00. The line starts forming around 10:45.

I normally leave work at 11 and get there at 11:15. Yes, there's a line, but I'm more concerned with getting a seat which is no problem at 11:15.

For those of you on the south side, Nick's Italian Deli in Franklin (close to the Target on Columbia Ave, behind the Burger King and Advance Auto Parts) is very similar to Joey's House of Pizza. It used to be in Cool Springs, but he moved a year or so ago. Nick and Joey are (IIRC) brothers-in-law. Nick's was first, then Joey left there to start his own place. I get the feeling that they don't like each other very much. :)

I'll have to check them out because I'm down in Franklin. I usually try to go to Joey's when I'm in the office in Nashville but the fact you say they are similar makes me curious.

Just one question......do you eat at Joey's or at Nick's? :D

I cannot comment further. LOL I've already said too much. Monkeys gonna kill me if he reads any of this! If I say more I'm toast.

Joey's. But it would've been Nick's if he still had his Downtown location.

DeSano's is good and I was surprised that Blaze pizza in Brentwood is pretty good and fast.

I thought Blaze was horrible. Just stick with Pizza Perfect. You know it's the best.  :)

For those in the lower Antioch area, Angelo's Picnic Pizza on Murfreesboro Road just south of Bell Road is pretty good. It's far from the best in the city, but it beats all of the big chain places. It's similar to Sal's at I-40 and Stewart's Ferry which is also better than any chain (but not as good as Joey's). I think Sal and Angelo are brothers. I know there's some kind of family connection between them.

I'm with you on Pizza Perfect. Its my go-to pizza joint. Just get a slice of Perfect and you'll be happy.

Desano's is legit - if you make it to Atlanta, Antico's is how they spell Desano's - identical menu, restaurant layout, etc. Joey's is great pizza also.

Poor guy. It only takes me 2 minutes. Tennis shoes or my cowgirl boots. Sometimes it takes 3 because I have to have the right color of tennis shoes but 30 minutes is ridiculous.

Just wait until she walks outside, realizes it's much warmer today than she expected, and she has to take off her scarf....but the rest of the outfit doesn't work without the scarf....time to change the whole thing.....

I thought it was pretty good. I got a stromboli, a slice, and a bit of Wifey's ziti, and some cheese bread. All of it was very good, not spectacular, but good. I like a really thin pizza, and they got pretty close to ideal.
