I bought it like that.  An older gentleman bought two 1895's.  One in 45-70 and one in 444.  He had the custom work done to both and then took them on one hunting trip to Alaska.  Sold them both when he got back.  I really wish I could have bought them both but only had the cash for one at that time.

Oh man that T-4 woulda been nice.

I wantin  to find a 444 that needs a little work, and cut it down.

Again Kahr, she's a beaut.

Thanks.  It is by far my favorite gun I have ever owned.

Thanks! I'm happy. Well, as happy as I can be. I'd love to have the Desert Eagle made in Israel in the display case, the AKs and ARs on the wall...Well, everything. I think I'm addicted to guns.

I am also addicted to straight razors. Wife got me a Baxter Blue Steel for Christmas! Not going to hijack the thread. It is my first serious razor. I have a couple nice refurbished ones from a guy in Hermitage.

Nice! I haven't gotten a decent one yet. I think I know the guy you're talking about. I was thinking of sending an old Genco to him but couldn't justify it given the cost to do everything that was needed.

I have not tried my hand at sharpening yet. I am planning on getting a decent set up and then practicing with my other razors. I have sent them off in the past, no more than they need to be sharpened it has not been a big deal. I just want to do it all my self, but stones are not cheep.

I actually went to his house, he is into traditional archery as well. I used to be big into that back in Texas. He has so many nice razors it is not even funny. He has multiple double ducks in mint condition with the box.

Wow, that's impressive that he has his ducks in a row like that. Couldn't resist that pun. It's sad, but I've spent more on hones than anything. Right now I'm breaking in a black Ark. It'll take a few hundred or even thousand passes with a chisel to get it right. Still, a darn good shave off it even from a $90 razor.

I am on my phone, do you live anywhere near Franklin? I would like to see your set up if you don't mind.

There are some great razors in that $90 range. I was planning on getting a base model Dovo until the wife got me the Baxter. Edited by Odessa7979

I prefer the Marlins. I have a couple of 1895's in 45-70. They are both great looking and shooting guns. My other 45-70 is a Ruger No. 1. That would be my second choice.

That is the manliest gun, ever. I'm ready to ditch my 30-30.

Mine is a Giesen and Forsthoff. Had a factory edge on it more akin to a kitchen knife. 4 hours on a 1k Chosera to get the bevel set.

I'm about 30 minutes east of Knoxville.

If a single shot is an option, consider the CVA Hunter.  I bought one a week ago for $255 and it came with rings/base.  All reviews looked good, but I have not shot it yet.

I have the Marlin with the 26" octagon barrel that is no longer available as far as I know it's been dropped to 24".With there being 3 different power levels of ammo it seems prudent to get the one that will handle the kind of shooting you will be doing.

We hope to head to the range tomorrow afternoon to put the first rounds Down the barrel of my Henry.

I have been looking forward to this one for a couple months.
