Nice build. Might do a little better with lower scope rings and a better butt stock but not bad at all. How is the trigger? Edited by Ropin4gold

I say the trigger sucks... It was fine when I was shooting iron sights at 25 yards. Once I went out further the heaviness of the trigger showed its ugly side.

I'd like a more rigid stock... Something like the Magpul precision rifle stock.

Here is one my uncle built up. It started out life as a DPMS Lr308 and he quickly sold the bull barreled upper and went the lightweight route.

I ordered a MOUNT-N-SLOT for my keymod fore end to allow me to run a bipod. I also ordered a Vortex scope level to help me with my orientation.

I also ordered a Caldwell NTX rifle shooting mount. I hoping that'll help me zero the rifle a bit better. Once I get that squared away I'll be able to tighten my groups with practice.

Yea, milspec (I'm assuming that's what was in the PSA kit) triggers' gotta go in a 308, imho. I put a CMC 3.5lb single stage with a flat face on mine and love it. They can usualy be found around $175ish.

I recently got the ALG coated trigger and put in another rifle with a 4lb spring, and I gotta say I'm impressed for a $60 trigger. It has just a little movement, but that movement is VERY smooth, and the break is very clean. As much as I am impressed with it for the cost, I wouldn't, however, recommend it for the .308. A crisp trigger with NO movement will really help shrink those groups. Edited by musicman

Yes! It is a mil spec trigger. Once I lighten it and/or get a better trigger I think it'll help my groupings.

That and a lot of practice.

The trigger made all the difference in mine too.  Velocity 3 lb. single stage.  Breaks like a good bolt action trigger.

It's a sickness man. Pretty soon inch groups won't be small enough. Then you will want half inch groups. Then you will start reloading and weighing your cases and sorting them. Prepping brass. Trying different components and different recipies...... Stop now before it's too late.

Today I received and installed a Vortex scope level. Also, I properly leveled the reticule. Hopefully I can get to the range tomorrow or Sunday to see where I'm at.

Also, I'm looking at getting a set of JP Enterprises trigger springs. They're supposed to lighten a mil-spec trigger to around 4.5-5 lbs. at $11.00 it seems like it'd be worth trying out.

As the rifle sits now it has cost a total of $1166.95, roughly. I received a few of the items as Christmas gifts so subtracting those parts gives me a total out of pocket of $776.95, roughly.

Do you have a ballpark figure on what you spent on the complete lower half?

Lower was $69.99, lower parts kit was $79.99, Magpul stock kit was $79.99.

OP, Did you use a standard DPMS pattern barrel and barrel nut with your PSA upper?

Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

The barrel is a Kak Industries 18" stainless.

The Odin Works FF Keymod handguard came with its own barrel nut.

When I chose the handguard I had to choose the "DPMS Low Profile" model as opposed to the "High Profile" model. This was due to the PSA upper being modeled after the low profile DPMS.

Hope that helps.

Are all the barrels the same?  For instance, the barrel extension is the same length for DPMS pattern and the others?

I just ordered an AERO receiver set for my build and it is DPMS high profile pattern.
