Don't have any experience with the PEPR. I use another one in the same price range that I have had good luck with. A Weaver SPR with thumb screws. I have to admit that I don't trust thumb screws or QDs in general and added a dab of blue locktite.

Ordered a Vortex Diamondback 4-12X40 today... Looking at mounts now. How does everyone feel about the Burris PEPR?

If you're getting the PEPR fixed mount, it's just fine. If you want QD, I would step up to American Defense. I have a PEPR QD and I just don't care for the levers. I see zero shift when I remove and remount the PEPR that I don't get with my ADM mounts.

Full disclosure: The MBUS' were purchased for my 15, not the 10. Once my optic comes in they'll be transferred.

Well, finally got the chance to stretch her legs. My wife and I shot 24 rounds through her yesterday and she functioned flawlessly. Deadly accurate and just a tad more recoil than my 5.56. Hopefully my Vortex will be here soon so we can see what she's really capable of.

Hard to tell without knowing his height. I'd guess maybe 220-230?

What a weird question, lol! Edited by musicman

225.

Oh, were you talking about the rounds? I'm not sure, it was some surplus .308 I had laying around from my M1A.

Here's the scope mount I'm using. A buddy of mine gave it to me for use on the .308.

He's not sure of the manufacturer but it feels very solid. Does anyone recognize it?

P.S. My diamondback will be here tomorrow.

I haven't the slightest idea. It weighs more than my 5.56 carbine, but not so much that I'd dread humping it through the Hindu Kush. I'll try and get a weight for ya.

I am enjoying your thread. The scope mount looks solid. Looking forward to the range report when you get your new glass on that bad boy.

Full disclosure. Had to Google Hindu Kush and am assuming you are talking about the Asian Mountain range.

Very good thread! Been wondering how I'd like an AR10 myself...and I haven't even got my SBR AR15 finalized yet!

My only foray into .308 was with a Socom 16 M1A that I had years ago. Man I miss that rifle.... though it did kick like a mule.

This AR platform .308 has a much tamer recoil. It's really a joy to shoot.

My Diamondback 4-12x40 will be here tomorrow (Wednesday). Hopefully I'll be able to get out to MSSA to get her dialed in Thursday or Friday.

So, the Diamondback is awesome. My ability to shoot using a scope is NOT awesome. These are from 100 yards. 934c26fe10d10b2195053434709ccdba.jpgf1447bc467de49358090ab0e4b8ddbc7.jpg53dd7b67190c8f15a488d3d37f3072b3.jpg3d04b5d6dc3235671d88abef4f54f0c0.jpgb61af1fcff524c3f753d277550093865.jpg
