Any opinions or first hand knowledge of these rifles ??

Local gun shop has a so called "civilian" model that looks pretty good.

Every one I have seen has looked great with top notch fit and finish and I cant recall ever hearing a bad review of them.

They are supposed to be one of the top tier AR makers. I believe the self manufacture everything except the furniture.

I HAD one of their M5 uppers on order through Midway but their incompetence led to my loss of patience. I now have a M5 Tactical on (eternal) order with Guns and Leather.

***eternal = 8 to 10 month delivery window per Sabre on complete rifles..they are not quoting any delivery times on parts***

Sabre > Colt IMO

Always loved the fit and finish of their rifles. The only odd thing they do is mark their stripped lowers differently than their assembled guns lower receivers.

Owned their A2 national match.

I like their lowers, I know Predator Custom uses Sabre lowers for their custom rifles. I believe Sabre also makes M2 .50 cal barrels for the army? So their good stuff.

Sabre does not make everything in house but they do good quality work and they buy (mostly) quality components from (mostly) good suppliers.

They do "assemble" M2 .50 cal's and make some of the components. That has been the primary focus of their business in the past but they may have shifted focus some lately.

In my opinion is its just a Nashville made AR. If buying one made here in Tennessee gives you the warm and fuzzys then fine... but Personally I think its hard to beat a Bushmaster.

I've got a Predator Carnivore Gen II that was built on a Sabre upper and lower. Its the tightest AR I've ever owned. Its an extremely accurate gun as well. Never had any problems out of it.

Ditto. All parts are made by sabre... well except triggers. There is rumor that they will eventually start producing them however. Sabre defense used to be based out of London if i'm not mistaken...

The Nashville based portion was just a barrel maker. Guy Savage went on to purchase the company right around when the Afghan\ Iraqi conflict started and his business took off.

Actually they have been operating in Nashville for many years under various names. I believe back to the 70's if I remember correctly. The British fellow did buy it up a few years back and he already had some other businesses going back overseas.

They have been making M2's for many years as well. We had serial number 2 of their first production run in our shop a few weeks back. One of the original principles of their operation from many years ago is now one of the investors/consultants at the shop I am in now and he has serial number 2.

The AR production is a new facet that came about after the new British owner came about I think but they have been doing it several years now.

I'd love to get a Sabre but they're a bit pricey for me.

I cant say enough good things about them, really. The extremely few times we've had trouble out of ones we've sold they took care of them in record time. Even sent a guy up to the shop to pick it up from us, though that was a few years ago when they were not as big as they are now, probably would have to ship it to them nowadays.

My second AR is a Bushmaster M4A3 upper, built on a stripped Sabre lower. Sabre lower has a nice finish and looks good overall- no machining marks, etc. Sabre lower also seems a tighter "fit" than my Bushmaster lower, to my two Bushmaster uppers (forementioned M4 and an A2 Dissipator).

I have one of their lowers and the fit and finish on it is top notch the hard anodizing is super smooth, I like it.

cant comment on Sabre AR quality, but i will comment that they in some form or fashion have been making M2 barrels since the 1940s.

they started out in a basement shop in Madison under the then movie theatre.

They have gone through all sorts of changes and ownership but have kept

the barrel making quality through all of these years. I got lucky enough to

get called to fix the machine they use to insert the stellite wear liner in the

barrel and they were nice enough to show me around and give me the .10 tour.

from the outside you would never know what the did there. from the inside you would never try to rob the place.
