Hand DePrimer

I've used a universal decapping die that doesn't sized the brass, but it's in a bench press. I'd be interested in a hand-held model and didn't even know they existed. Cool idea.

I love my Frankford Arsenal hand deprimier. Uses different size/depth collets to deprime, and you can adjust the tension.

The decapping pin is also pretty thick so it wont snap - however it sucks when you get a POS perfecta or tulammo brass case with an off center flash hole and have to take it apart.

Good for watching TV can decap about 500 in an hour with a good rythmn.

Only thing faster would be using a universal decapping die on a progressive press with a case feeder. Especially in conjunction with a swager unit on a XL650

Like I said, never heard of a hand deprimer until this thread. Googled and found this one. Looks promising and it doesn't require collets.

I use a Lee hand press to decap. The hand press is only 30-something dollars on Amazon and the die is around $15.00 or so. Plus, for about the same price as these dedicated decapping devices, you can having a press that can be used for other things as well.

I like the Lee Hand Press too...just wish it could be operated with one hand.

To a certain degree it can. I position it against the inside of my left leg and then hold and squeeze against my leg with my right, leaving my left hand free to handle the brass. It would be hard though if you only had one hand to place and remove the brass, if that is what you are referring to.

I never knew of a hand deprimer either. Before I had a dedicated Lee decapping die I used a 45acp die for the38,9,and 40. I also used the little donut and decapping rod from my Lee classic loader.

Anybody have experience with this hand DePrimer?

Or do you have another preference for this task? I have about 20,000 pieces of brass that I want to deprime and clean. I don't want to run them trough a die first..

Yo Dude!

I _just_ bought a hand-deprimer from Frankford Arsenal Yesterday @ Cabela's on my way back from the Great White North.

So far I am very happy with it. I've run through a couple hundred 9mm's playing w/ it on the couch. A few have gotten stuck and I needed a set of pliers to remove, but so far pretty simple and easy. You spill the spent-primers sometimes, but nothing the vacuum cleaner can't handle.

Check around on prices, as I only paid $35-bucks! Worth it IMO, it's pretty well constructed from what I can tell. Be happy to let you borrow it sometime or try it out if you want. I'll bring my cleaned brass to reload on your press while you're de-capping w/ mine! Win-Win! LOL!

Nice! I'm in the great white north right now.... I'll be back in town soon. I may just take you up on that, and I haven't forgotten about ORSA

Thanks for the review!

LOL! If you take 81 back, stop in Bristol at the Cabela's (right off the highway), it was only $35, and it's not like you can't find something else you need there... ;)
