Does this Chief Law Enforcement Officer signature mean a Sheriff or just whomever is on desk duty can sign?

 

In Williamson county specifically.... Anyone with recent experience with this?

Sheriff has to sign off.

They will likely run a background check on you prior to signing.

At least that's what they do in Sullivan county on a form 4.

I'm no expert but my experience is this depends on whether or not you live inside or outside of city limits as to which LEO must sign.  Inside usually means Chief of police, outside means Sheriff.

Question is for my buddy.... I told him to just call the local ATF office. Ow there is confusion over whether a standard LE fingerprint card will suffice or if, as per the form 7, you have to use an ATF branded one.... seems like they could at least give clear and consistent directions for this stuff. Geezz

The Sherriff is the CLEO in every county in Tennessee with the exception of Davidson; where it is the Chief of Police.

CLEO doesnt sign off on that.  Just fill out the info and send copy with delivery confirmation to CLEO.  The signature area is for the applicant.
