I was a little hesitant to post these links because I know nothing about this site but all the other stories seem to be legit. I guess it falls under the ol' take-it-for-what-it's-worth category.

How did he get around all the blocks?  I can't even watch YouTube videos containing guns at work let alone porn.

I'd imagine if a flag officer wants the blocks gone, his version of a SIGO will tell the network administrator to make it happen.

EUTimes is a conspiracy site, but sometimes even the conspiracy sites get it right.

You'd think that a flag officer would be smart enough to watch porn on his personal phone instead of the DoD system, especially in this post-Snowden age where everything gets monitored. It's not too far of a stretch to think that he asked the wrong questions and got canned and the porn-story is a cover. Then again, maybe he just can't get enough of the ladiez. He wouldn't be the first person in a senior management position who got caught doing that.

That won't happen any more.  OIG runs the show when it comes to logging policies and if someone clears any of them, it will notify an entire group of people of who done what.  He would have a better chance of flying under the radar and hitting 50 sites before he would hitting one site and having someone clear the logs.

<edit> misread your post - thought you meant have someone clearing his history logs.  But the same applies to blocking policies as well, any modifications to system policies are monitored by automated systems and send alerts to the security groups (usually the same people listed above).

Even on a ship?  This guy was the commander of a carrier strike group, so it could have happened on a deployment.

In the Army, when a brigade was out in the field using tactical communications, they controlled their own network.  I'd imagine that a ship has something similar for a setup.

Yep, even on a ship.  Things have changed massively just in the past few years.  The majority of the control measures or policies are implemented at the agency level (DoD) and the ship or site only manage the hardware.
