Glock 19 Gen 2

I guess I'm the odd man out. While I do like my gen 2 19(made in Dec of 88) it's not the end all be all of Glocks. The Gen 4's actually feel much better in the hand and I like all the new features better. There has also been a lot of speculation as to how long the polymer will hold up on these guns. We've seen cracked frames on some of the older Glocks.

I've honestly considered selling or trading my Gen2 for something else.

I liked the gen 4 but it didn't fit my hand. I "fixed" a gen 3 23 to fit my hand but it still didn't feel right, and it showed at the range. Pm me a price, I might be interested in yours Edited by gomer pyle

I liken Gen2 Glocks to appliances.  Doesn't everyone agree that refrigerators, washers and driers built in the 50s, 60s, 70s, & 80s, lasted longer than the ones today?  The ole expression they don't make'em like they use to may apply at least for the grip.  I tend to be a creature of habit, and it bothers me when something I enjoy changes, (maybe for the better, but could be to reduce cost at the factory), nonetheless I don't like change.

No one likes change.......................except a wet baby.

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought there were supposed to be 6 springs?

I guess if you wanted to get technical about it you could add the Slide Lock Spring, Magazine Catch Spring, and Slide Stop Spring.

Unless you're having a specific problem, I wouldn't worry about those.

While it is unreliable to judge based on pictures, I see wear in areas that indicate a higher round count. I don't see enough wear to indicate that it was a law enforcement gun. Normally one side of the grip gets really worn beside the magazine well.

Take it completely apart. Clean the hell out of it. Replace all the springs. After that leave the pin(s) ((can't remember if one or two)) alone for the next twenty years. Edited by Kevo

For those familir with Glock history there is a very rare Gen 1 19 on Gunbroker. Again, it's a Gen 1... Supposedly there were only a handful of these made.

Naturally, I still can't copy and paste on TGO.

That looks like a 17 cut to 19, which I hear is often the case, but is a 19 when you look at the other side.  Wow, it has a number of bids (now at $1,225) and it has 6 days to go.

I will help you out on posting a pic:

I picked up a gen 2 19 today. Wow, why did glock have to add the finger groves on gen 3s and 4s? It feels so much better and I shoot a lot better with it. If I looked correctly it was manufactured in 1/92. It came with a beaver tail which I plan to remove, I have to order a trigger pin. Should I order/replace all the springs in it, considering I don't know the round count? Anything else I should consider/do?

Were you low and to the left with gen 3? I know many have had that problem?

What is the cause for them shooting low and left? User error? Is there a way to correct this?

Thanks

Most new right handed shooters miss left. Most push down as well anticipating the recoil. That's for pretty much every gun.

I was straight up at the same time with my 1911 so I would say its the grip angle. Talked to a guy from glock about it. He told me lowering the trigger to 3.5lbs helped him. He also mentioned its pretty common for those who shoot other guns. Seems if all you shoot is glock you get used to it.
