i got two 550 and they are hard to beat.  on one i added the strong mount, roller handle, a bullet tray.  it made it better and i am going to do it for the second one.  i found a led light kit for the 550 and it is one of the best upgrade going and it was around $26.00. i  found it on ebay.  i seen a primer bar roller system fix that should make the primer bar move better.  i have been thinking about getting it to see if it works.

I say the xl650 - I have one after upgrading my Square Deals and it is the best press Dillon makes (been working on a review for it)

If you stick with the 550, a case feeder (if you can), the InLine LED lights, roller handle and priming system upgrades are to be found easily on Ebay.

Unless your planning to start reloading redonkulas (yeah I know it's not a word) volumes of ammo because you've got some super secret unlimited supply line for powder, stick with the 550b.

Now if you just have the money and really need to spend it go for the Dillon 1050 http://www.dillonprecision.com/content/p/9/pid/23877/catid/1/Super_1050

Now if you want to take it to the next level of redonkulas get a AmmoBot http://www.ammobot.us/products/ammobot-mk1-auto-drive

oh snap they have electric case loaders now?  Think the 1050 is out of my price range but may upgrade to the 650.

I never keep up with the stuff and honestly I don't do a ton, but any automation is cool for me

If saving time and increased production are the goals, a 650 with a case feeder would be a huge upgrade in my opinion. Using a lockout die/powder check in station 3, your only job will be to place bullets and pull the lever. The auto-indexing shellplate on the 650 is a safer in my view and eliminates any chance of double charging a case. If you really want to get crazy, add a Mr. Bulletfeeder to it. Those can be a pain to setup properly though.

The 1050 is in a class of its own. Everything is done on the downstroke on the 1050 including priming cases, making it much faster than the 650 for most people. The other big advantage is the built in primer pocket swager if you load military brass. Disadvantages include the cost and time involved to change calibers. For most people, it's a single caliber machine.

Unless you really hustle big time, the 650 with case feed will pretty much double your output of the 550 in a given period of time. On the 550 (as you know) you are manually inserting a case, place a projectile and rotating the shell plate. The 650 does all of that l, except placing a projectile, for you and you can crank the handle as fast as you can place the projectile.
