S&W M&P Shield 9mm w/Ported Barrel

I picked up a performance center ported full frame earlier this year from guns and leather greenbrier. Daniel has always had my weird stuff in stock . Added an apex Flat trigger and a rm 07. I love it especially after having a problem w a mp 9 before that. Some guys say the ported barely works . I ve been running 115 through it and love it. Works fine. I want anything I can do to get faster target acquisition.No regrets w this pistol. If I wasn't using it as a gamer I wouldn't have bought it. No regrets here. Based on most all of the comments to my post I think I'll just stick to a more traditional barrel for self defense. Good discussion!

One other thing is some ammo(such as the Federal Champion ammo) has a warning not to use in ported barrel. I'm not sure if this is just on lower priced ammo or some SD ammo would have it also? I also don't know the reasoning but just happen to buy the Federal from Walmart a couple weeks ago...

I know some of the lower cost ammo runs very dirty. Maybe concerns about un-burned powder getting in the eyes etc.? Just a guess...

I guess dirty ammo could be an issue. Hadn't really thought about it. I have learned the ported pistols are more for target shooting and the shooters might lean towards a more quality grade of ammo.

IMO fixing problems that are minimal or don't exist.  The Shield is a very good design as is.  Lite, easily controlled.  I shot the new version....wouldn't trade even.  Don't fix what ain't broke.

I thought the trigger a bit better than on mine, and I really like the hi-viz sights. So at least a sight change is in store for mine.

I added a hiviz front sight to mine and it was worth it.

Agreed. Almost all of my Glocks wear hi-viz.

out of the 5 my shop sold 3 of the fiber optic rear sights came lose first time out  :down: not good S&W
