I don't get all the "innovation" hype on this. What's new?

The first page says..."Designed with the latest U.S. Military standards in mind". So I assume it is their entry.

Someone will need to freeze it in a bucket and water and drag it on a rope behind their car before we find out how tough it really is.

I pulled the trigger on one today. Literally. The trigger pull is very smooth. The reset actually exists on this model, but it is still longer than Glocks substantially. I just hope it doesn't have any kinks. Ruger is known for that.

I haven't seen the pistol in person.
But my biggest issue is barrel length to size ratio.
It seems like you don't get much barrel compared to the slide.
Again I haven't seen one one person. Just going by looks.

I really like the looks of it myself. It sort of reminds me of the Canik TP9SA or maybe even the HK VP9, both of which I think are very cool looking guns.

I have one in my hand right now. Guys, it is truly an excellent offering. The trigger is similar (but better) to the new XD Mod 2. Definitely worthy of consideration.

If Ruger keeps it internal parts down to a minumum like GLock and they build this thing as tough as the old P-Series , then I can overcome the look and will definitly get one.  Especially if that price stays low enough. I think someone said Whittakers had them for $420 .

I'm out. I was looking for sub $300.

This may push the SR series below $300...

What I'd like to see is an "All-American Patriot Package".

1 American pistol
1 American bolt action/scope package.
1 American rimfire

All in a special edition fitted "American Patriot" case, and with matching USAXXXX serial numbers.

Should be able to get package MSRP to about $1500, with street price more like $1200 or even lower.

If that gun sold for $290 it would all of a sudden be the best looking and most accurate handgun on the market.

If a gun of this quality sold for $290, any company offering it would go out of business.

AKA, SD series. Haha!

Sold every 45 we had today. The trigger sells it immediately. This is gonna be one hot ticket.

Good. It’s good for Ruger, good for your shops business, and good for our economy. Is anyone making holsters for them yet?

This is so, so different than the "show off a new gun at SHOT, spend a year sending it around to gunrags, then trickle a handful of them into the marketplace" model that seemed to be the choice of the gun industry back a few years ago when I was selling guns.  I like this new approach.

“The Ruger American Pistol”, MSRP exactly $10 more than the M&P, three palm swells. Looks like they have set their sights directly on the King of the hill. Good for them. We all win when the American gun companies start slugging it out.

The palm swell feature is intriguing to me as I haven't found a polymer that has the seem feel as my metal CZs...at the price point, it does appear they feel it can compete with M&P and a viable alternative to Glock.

I could be wrong but I assume its being driven by the military gun issues. Time is running out.

How did this guy get to be a  CEO for Ruger and chosen spokesperson in a video for this new pistol with his lame two handed grip technique?

I don't know.  How did Bill Ruger found one of the greatest American firearms manufacturers then convince the federal government, thus subsequently every gun grabber, including state and local governments, than 10 round magazines were all that was needed?

Yes. They shipped samples to dealers. They are supposed to be on shelves shortly.

Cause he couldn't figure out how to get a double stack into a Ruger MK series.
