Now that prices are down, they figure this is their opportunity.  After all, we were used to it being thru the roof.

Senate Speaker Ron Ramsey, R-Blountville, says he wants action in the upcoming legislative session but isn't expecting it.

"I'm all for a solution on this. If we increase the gas fuel tax 10 cents or whatever, brought diesel fuel up to that and worked on something on electric vehicles and liquid-propane gas vehicles, it would solve our problems for another 20 years,"

Translation:  "We need a mileage tax on these vehicles."

Ramsey told reporters. "It's so ironic that gas will go up 10 cents in a week and nobody says a word.

That's because we know it's market driven and not imposed by the government.   We know if fruit & produce prices go up, it's usually because of something like a drought or hard freeze and not because the government decided to impose a fruit and produce tax.  (Oh :poop: , I just gave them an idea. )

Tennessee  politicians have always loved a gas tax and will try for one every chance they get. This is just another attempt to screw the Tennesseans out of more hard earned money for their pork fat pet projects...............jmho

I remember years ago that most states had labels on the gas pumps that gave the federal and state tax figures. I think they quit it so people wouldn't come apart at the seams when they read it.

If they would stop spending the GD gas tax money on projects that didn't have anything to do with highways, there would be ZERO problems.

This for a million times, just chaps my butt  the way the .gov spends money collected from

something like gas tax and spend it on a bike cycle path or lane. OR worse "public transportation".

call or email them and tell them "no to a gas tax".  they will do it anyway.  then when it is time for re-election we need to remember to vote them out.

When I lived in Illinois, there was a gas station that put the gas tax on a sign out front.  "Someone" made them take it down. :shhh:

But the governor needs the bathroom renovated in his mansion.

True dat.  Plus, market-driven prices will fall when the market demands it whereas taxes never go down.
