Old Dan Wesson revolver

The original Dan Wessons were fine guns. Very well made and accurate. The easily changed barrels made them quite popular in certain circles. I would rank them close, but not quite S&W. But that's just me. I never really cared for the cylinder latch set up. But if I ran across a nice one today for $350, I would be sorely tempted.

They have a lock time that supposedly is a bit quicker than S&W or Ruger, which made it a favorite of silhouette shooters.  I've had several apart and replaced internals.  I always thought the guts were just a tad "hinky" compared to Ruger and S&W, but they always worked.  EWK Arms makes some spare parts for them and I suppose CZ has some parts if someone needed them.  If I were to again buy a revolver the DW would be the only one.  I would love to stumble across a .22LR DW, but am not looking for one.  Frankly because I classify them as a target or range gun, or maybe a hunting revolver I would opt for the longer barrels.   I would also second the recommendation to get one of the Monson, MA versions.   Take a look at some pretty wild version here:  http://www.danwessonforum.com/

I had 3 over the years, 6in 22lr, 6in 357mag, 10in 41mag. I wish I still had every one. Very solid guns. DA trigger not quite as good as S&W or Colt, SA trigger pretty good, accuracy second to none in the revolver world. If it's in good shape I'd jump on it for 350. Look at gun broker for reference prices.

I'll echo the chorus of praise for the DW revolvers... I've had several, liked them all; and im a Smith guy...

The one currently residing in our safe is an 8 inch 22lr DW... It shoots better than i can hold... They are well made and very accurate...

Buy without hesitation....
