First Step Into .357 Sig...check! Any Re-Loaders?

This morning I placed an order for a .357 Sig caliber conversion kit in full size and a compact size .357 Sig barrel. I also ordered a carry size grip module, (full size grip for a compact slide). When I receive these I'll be able to convert my .40 P320c into a full size P320, carry size P320, and P320c all in .357 Sig which will complement my 9mm P320. I'm pretty pumped about this since it's my first .357 Sig that I've owned or even shot. I bought the .40 P320c because it was at a good sale price, but the .40 just doesn't blow my skirt up! :) I like the 10mm but the finger grooves on the Glock 20/29 don't work for my big hands. I think the .357 will be a good compromise for when I want more than the 9mm.

 

I have a Dillon 550B press, so now I need to look to re-loading the .357 Sig. Any re-loaders out there have any good advice, recipes, etc?

Well, 357 Sig is not the easiest to reload. Neck tension can be an issue as well as collapsing the shoulder; you just have to find the perfect setting on you dies. Also, not all .355 projectiles will work.

357SIG isnt as hard to reload as I thought it was, they say treat it like a rifle round but that isnt necessarily true.

If you can find my old thread Leroy and a few others hooked me up with serious insight.

For one, make sure if you use 9mm bullets theyre TC, FP or HP, anything with flat angles - there is not a whole lot of shoulder to grab onto it.

The only problem comes from belling the case - too much bell with crush the shoulder. I didnt bother crimping the first few I did - since its bottlenecked there is not anything for it to catch on.

I like running it through my 10mm Square Deal resizing die, helps uniform the body, before using Hornady dies for the rest. Theyre TiN coated, so they are the cheaper solution at 68 dollars rather than getting the Dillon dies.

I have reloaded several hundred, but it wasn't fun.  Very much like reloading necked rifle cases.  Love the snap feel though!  I have the Glock 32 Gen2, 33 Gen2 and a Sig P229, would like to have the G33 someday.
