Vintage campers, of course.

After a few months on board I get an urge to shuck it all and take a road trip. I'd love to spend a month crossing the country on the old highways, with a vintage camper. Maybe run out old Rt. 66, then check out the Grand Canyon and swing back east on US 50 (the 'loneliest highway').

Anyone here have a vintage camper, or would enjoy doing something like this?

Before we purchased our toybox, I kicked the idea of doing a modern-resto on an Airstream a bit.

In the end, I had to deal with the fact that I just dont have the spare time for that sort of thing.

Wanted to pimp out one of these:

I don't have a camper yet, but it's on my 10yr "to-do" list. Some of the best times I had as a kid was camping with the fam. I want something like Joe's got with sliders, probably.

My wife is a teacher and has summers off, so I'm hoping that in time we will be able to afford a camper, and that we will be able to off 4-6 weeks a year and tour the country. There's so much to see!

with as much traveling as we do, it would make sense for us to get a camper..we'd save a MINIMUM of 45 dollars a day in per diem...

I don't know how much longer I'm going to be working in my industry though..at most a year or so...we'll see what I can find!

Check out this site. http://www.mikenchell.com/

Tons of info on older vintage stuff as well as modern replica and home built teardrops. They have a bunch of vintage plans shown as well.

I was about to build a small non traditional teardrop on a trailer frame I have but I am now leaning toward doing a small cargo conversion sort of like a home built toy box. I want to be able to haul the bike to the track and then camp in the paddock.
