Seeing a new trend in the tics system and that is they say they never got your appeal after you wanted the 15 calendar days then resubmit the appeal to have them drag it out since there is only 30-31 days in a month the original transaction number expires after 30 days and you have to start all over again. Looks like TN is going anti guns and the ffl's can "buy" transfers dirt cheap and sell them at full retail. TN tics is either broken or corrupted. Had to let the ffl 'steal' my brand new sig from a transfer only to see it on his shelf for more than I paid for it and lost 40% of what I paid for it.

That sucks. I would like to know which ffl is doing this.

How did you lose 40%?

You didn’t have to make a deal with the dealer all you had to do is pay shipping back to whoever you bought it from after the appeals process was over. A dealer got a gun at retail for someone that couldn’t pass a background check. How is that his fault?

Yes, TICS appears to have problems, but you could have dealt with them if it was a mistake.

You shouldn't have sold him your gun. You should have let him put it up for sell for you.

Not to say we are calling BS here but with so little detail I can't help but believe there has got to be more to the story than you posted here... First off if you have an HCP has something in your status changed? 2ndly why did you have to allow an FFL to "steal" your purchase? You should have had several options at your disposal such as returning etc. I know that if I felt I'd been treated as such by an FFL I would be screaming their name out loud here...

Same happened to me for years until I contacted the FBI and applied for a Federal UPIN. Unique Personal Identification Number. They did an extensive background check, I was clean, and now I just have them call in my UPIN number with each transfer!! No problem. TBI sucks!

UPDATE----Applying to TICS denied ... I filed appeal... other posts said Call TBI??

Well today I talked to court... and expungement moving forward as I am no longer in the LOCAL clerks computer.... I will get my Packet in 2 weeks....

then all agencies and TBI notified and TBI supposed to Tell FBI....

so hopefully the Guns are still at the FFL waiting for me (as he was not original dealer) and they are paid for...

**If I paid and own guns, what happens If FFL sold guns that he didn't own??? ***

TBI did tell me that once I have the Packet, go get the background check done again and if denied, fax appeal with a copy of the Expungement papers and all should be good to go

This was all with only ever being arrested once EVER and that case was RETIRED, so no convictions EVER... ( the court clerk said my lawyer should have done the expungement immediately on the retirement date... HE DID NOT...

so hopefully I will have my G19's in about a month... will keep you posted

I have been in touch they are paid in full and I have receipt I could just report them stolen I guess if they are not still there.. but we will see... would think there is some risk to sell guns he doesn't own and were transferred to him from original dealer in a paid for deal

An FFL wouldn’t sell them. He would either return them to whoever shipped them to him, or hold them for you. Sounds like he is willing to do the latter. That’s good; some dealers would send them back.

Still waiting on Expungement packet in the Mail... I found a rule stating TBI can expedite expungement for Firearm purchase ....so I will doing that once I get my Packet... either way TBI already told me to try again and if denied fax copy of expungement in with appeal....

Naturally Dr. has cleared me to return to work this week... so I will not have a ton of time to go to RANGE and learn how to shoot like I had planned when this all started

Expungement received!!!! I found on the TBI webpages that I can fax it to a certain number and they will expedite purging my case from the records and forwarding it to FBI... It is now faxed.... I was told by FFL that guns are waiting on me and Probably take 2 weeks for TBI to purge records...

so I am getting close!!!

I have a buddy with a FARM he is going to take us out and teach us to start off... We are reading all the manuals and stuff... I bought dummy rounds so we can practice loading, unload, clearing, safe handling,... before we even introduce live rounds into the mix

we don't want to be "THAT GUY"

still need to get ears and eyes (looking for ears that allow you to hear when someone is teaching you-- the ones I used at the range didn't let me hear anything) probably look for a deal on 1000 rounds... and I like the green viridian laser and light

will worry about vehicle safe and holster as we progress

oh and find a GOOD permit class

Check Home Depot for some electronic muffs. Really. I got a couple pair of Peltor muffs there a couple years ago. The work great.
