Virginia to end reciprocity with 25 states

Here's the stupid part... Open carry will still be legal there without a permit. This is political, nothing to do with safety.

That's what I was going to say. Open Carry is legal but not CC...... All politics.

I guess you'd have to open carry or buy a non resident license to conceal.  Do you have to still lay your handgun on the dashboard/seat so that it is not concealed in a car or can you put the handgun anywhere in the car concealed?

As I understand it (but I could very well be wrong), a reciprocity agreement falls apart if one party reneges... I would expect that, within a year's time, VA permit holders pretty much wont be able to carry into any contiguous states.  I live only 300 yds from the VA state line - and, as others have pointed out, VA is (for now) an OC w/o permit state...guess the Springer gets to see the light of day on northerly excursions.  Given the rabid anti-2A histories of Herring and McAuliffe, this will likely be but the tip of the iceberg.  While it will be difficult at present for them to eliminate permitless OC, I do expect considerable pressure from them to make OC as uncomfortable - and as unwelcome - as they can.

This bit of lunacy brought to you by the same state that accepts online training for purposes of obtaining their state-issued permit...just sayin...

We must live in the same neighborhood.

This is simply about doing SOMETHING against firearms. It has nothing to do with "common sense" or anything effective. I hope the NRA sues the living piss out of them.

Can someone explain how this statement makes any since at all?

Attorney General Mark R. Herring (D) said severing the out-of-state agreements can prevent people who may be dangerous or irresponsible from carrying a concealed weapon.

Ridiculous - to get a VA nonresident all you have to do is mail in an application and a copy of DD-214 or proof of attending NRA basic firearm training. Pure politics. Recommend everyone write their reps and demand VA permits not accepted in TN. Good for the goose, good for the gander.

TN will have to change the law to forbid it, can't be done with mere edict from AG, TNDOS, or even Governor.

Kind of hard to open carry in the winter, unless you want to strap a heater across your chest or something.

Did not think to check Chat, I figured it was a 2nd Amendment issue.

It is.  General Chat's just become akin to the area around the front door where people just drop things on their way in.

No, but they do appear to be making them.

I travel to VA often. My wife is from Honaker, we live maybe 40 minutes from Bristol in Erwin.

Some of those remote hollers I wouldn't be caught dead without a firearm. I guess it's open carry time when we visit.
