I’m trying to buy a new truck this week to take advantage of all the big year end discount they are claiming. You would think as aggressive as these salesmen are they would respond to my requests. But when I email them with want I want all get back is a canned “Hey, come on down” email with no specific inventory listed.

That's because they hope to convince you to buy something else on the lot. I think you'd be better off to search the inventory online to see if there's anywhere local that has what you want, and then contact them. http://www.chevydealer.com/Nashville/models/chevrolet/?cs:pro=cgt2&cs:dma=659&cs:loc=en_US&cs:e=m&cs:cid=3287114651&cs:kw=%2BChevrolet&cs:q=chevrolet%20search%20inventory&cs:m=p&cs:kt=91014U0100&mkwid=4403522M&pcrid=3287114651&pkw=%2BChevrolet&pmt=bb&cs:a=chevrolet_retention_sitelinks_Locator

Yah, car salesman are the worst to deal with. I know what I want, I know what my trade in is worth, and I know how much I'm willing to pay. If these criteria are not compatible, we won't have a deal, but they will just keep going in every direction. Don't ever give them your contact info. They'll never leave you alone after you walk out on them.

Be careful dealing with Chevy place in murfreesboro, I bought a truck there. They were great to deal with as long as i was buying. But when I had issues with the truck, they didn't know me and service department was terrible. I sold the truck and will never own another General Motors product.

buying a new vehicle has turn into a big pain in the butt.   come to think about it buying used one is just as bad.  car dealers are a pain and most service departments don't know how to do the work.  but that is the price you pay if you go for new.  the net is your best tool for research before you go into the dealership.

I have been looking for a truck for months, I am picky.

Chevy
3/4 ton
Gas engine
White
4x4
2 door
Long bed

This truck is made, however new is out of my price range and used are way over in miles.

That the problem I'm having. I don't want the payment of a new truck, but I also don't want a truck with 150,000 miles on it for $15,000 or more.

I'm driving a 94' silverado with 70k miles on it. I traded my Titan in earlier this year and got my wife a new SUV. I went back and forth between two dealers and never mentioned the trade until we agreed on the sale price of the SUV. Made things a lot simpler to make sure we were comparing apples to apples.

I'm gonna drive this 94' until it doesn't make sense anymore. My daily commute is 8 miles. When the time comes, i'm going to find a base model Silverado 2500 or Ram 2500. 4x4. V8. Crew Cab. Vinyl floors. I don't need a "luxury" truck. I will be looking for a working truck. My profession doesn't require such a vehicle but looking ahead, i want to go with the 2500 in case we decide down the road we want a camper or larger boat. I don't want to trade again for many years.

The average age of a vehicle on the road is 11 years, with cash for clunkers eliminating huge numbers of late 90/early 2000 trucks.

The 08-09's started hitting their trade cycle at 28-ish months. Pre 08's that escaped cash for clunkers are now 10-ish years old with 150-180k miles. Demand exceeds supply...look at wear and tear. They are designed for real daily work, 150k of soccer, home depot once a quarter and 4 wheel drive 2 time a year is not work.

Be patient, best time to buy is when you don't need it to get to work.

Btw, you can buy a new full size truck for 25k...If you want a base work truck; what are all the extra options worth to you? Edited by Gotthegoods

Interesting theory.  That makes sense.

Of course, my truck is going on 11 years old and I just broke 50k miles on it.  I'm planning on driving it for another 10, then giving it to my son.  Hopefully the prices aren't too crazy in 2025.

Less than 5k / yr, I'm lucky to drive less than 5k / month!
