RO/SO Training for USPSA & IDPA

Recommended Posts

Posted
Years ago I was a RO/SO for both USPSA and IDPA. As I'm getting back into the game after about 10 years off. I'd like to renew those certifications and help out at some matches.

If any of the clubs are holding the training let me know.

Thanks,

Bob

In preparation for next years USPSA state championship match we are planning to host a range officer (RO) class and a certified range officer (CRO) class.

To facilitate registration for these classes, I have set up practiscore to allow registering.

The RO class will be March 12-13 and registration is now open.  If you need hotel accommodations ORSA has an agreement with the local Comfort Inn $70 per night.  Ask for LORSA rate when registering. A flyer is attached.  There are a variety of other hotel offerings in Oak Ridge and West Knoxville as well.

Registration process will be as follows:
  1. Register online at the above link
  2. Then send payment ($40) to:
    • ORSA RO Class
    • C/O Robert Garrett
    • 3243 Fairview Lane
    • Strawberry Plains, TN 37871
  3. Once I receive your payment then I'll approve your registration and send you an email confirmation.
  4. As class dates approach you will receive additional information pertaining to the class.

CRO Registration is currently closed until we nail down dates.  I think Mark is shooting for April for CRO class.  Some of you have expressed interest in CRO class.  If you want to reiterate your interest simply reply to this message.

Thanks
Robert Garrett

This was mentioned at the Rockcastle 3 Gun match yesterday... See their website or FB page for more details.

Rockcastle 3-gun Range Officer training program.

Fri, January 29, 12pm – Sat, January 30, 4pm

The Rockcastle 3-gun Range Officer training program was developed in response to the increased demand for additional Range Officers. Those individuals trained through Rockcastle Range Officers will be instructed on the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to operating and maintaining a safe shooting environment. The Range Officer course will include both classroom instruction and fieldwork application. The training involved will cover the Range Officer's various roles and responsibilities, range standard operating procedures, range inspection and range rules, firearm stoppages and malfunctions. This training will utilize the ProAm rule set with additional discussion on other prevailing rule sets. Please bring something to take notes on and, if you are able and interested, please bring your 3 gun equipment along with 75 rounds of pistol, 75 rounds of birdshot, 6 rounds of slugs, and 75 rounds of rifle ammo. After the completion of classroom discussion a mini match will be held with the students taking turns running the match and working the match to apply the classroom knowledge.. Rockcastle will offer $29 hotel rooms Friday night for anyone participating in this event and have a reception that evening as a way to say thank you. This will only make Rockcastle Shooting Center, that much stronger. Cost will be $40 and include a Rockcastle Range Officer Polo and Hat. Registration: Email Nick Noble at nhnoble@gmail.com or call 270-791-0171 for more details. Instructor: Paul Winters

I'll post here.

Hey Robert,

If we're interested, can we go ahead and take the IDPA pre-certification test from the IDPA webside online, or should we wait for you to post details?  Thanks for doing this!
