Decided to finally get a black rifle

A couple of months ago I decided to finally get an AR. I'd wanted one for awhile but hadn't pursued it much. So I started doing my research to see which one I wanted or if I wanted to build or buy and something clicked. Not sure when or why but it did. AR turned into AK. I found that the DDI AK's were made here in Knoxville and were getting great reviews and so that's what I wanted. Thanks to Dolomite for trying to save me a few bucks and get a WASR but I just couldn't get away from wanting the DDI. However these things are like a Tattoo. Now I want a WASR to go with it in the traditional AK look.  Also thanks to Fighting Sheep Dog. I've never ordered one online and the transfer was super easy and smooth with them.

So in the 3 or 4 weeks I've had it, its already evolved a little. I have to say the AK is quite easy to work with.

At first

Then I decided I wanted the Ultimak gas tube rail and also got some side rails.

And tonight I added the fore grip

An American AK. Does not get anymore paradoxical than that.

Well you can increase the paradox if it was also chambered in .223. While not rare, it's always odd to me.

Nice AK!

It's 100% assembled in TN with USA parts? Or?

Its assembled here with parts kits. One thing I like was the factory tours on Youtube. There are a few of them

Are you gonna be putting an Aimpoint Micro series for on the Ultimak? Is there anything else you are planning to do to your DDI? I seriously recommend you picking up an ALG AKT. What a difference that trigger makes.

I want to put a reflex style red dot on it, but something in the <$150 range. I was looking at Bushnell. It came with the Tapco trigger in it and I couldn't imagine getting much better than it is. Very smooth and light. Other than that Id like to get a scope rail for the side mount with a magnified optic that can go on and off with a quick release.

You might want to look at a Primary Arms red dot. Trust me the AKT is sweet and is worth 35 dollars. I'm in the process of finishing up my AK build. Once my three orders ship I'll be finished and just need to buy a pile of ammo.

I looked up some videos on the AKT, looks like your right. I'm gonna have to add that to the list.

This style mount is the quick release itself.

If you put some kind of quick release attachment on top, scope likely gets too high for good cheek weld/eye alignment, so you have to just use QD rings or QD PEPR type if you want side mount to stay in place. Of course, then you're limited to a see through type mount or you couldn't use the irons.

My WASR with just a UTG mount, which I've found to be perfectly adequate, whole shebang comes off pert quick, return to zero seems plenty good enough.

The newer "Pro" version of it claims to be see through also, so would give both options I guess:
