I like it. How did you break up the colors? I just bought a can of Dark Earth and a can of Field Drab from Brownell's to do a gun but haven't quite worked out how to apply it.

I'm all for painting your AR if you want. I'll probably paint mine (or send it off), once I'm done with the build.

My only advice... there's too much black in your pattern. Needs to be a lot softer, to blend in with the surroundings better.

I did it so it would be different, but yes I hunted with it last week. It has a first kill of an 8 Pointer.

I started with a base of flat tan and then I added the flat green and flat black using stensils that me and my son cut out of a file folder. There is some over spray but I figured that it will help break up the original pattern anyway. I did it in one day. After I finished I put the upper and lower in the oven on 150 Degrees to bake the paint. I thought that if these guns could live in the heat of the desert it would not hurt in the oven.

I agree for the field of grass but in the oak tree stand I thought it would be ok

Yep. My comment wasn't a jab at your camo job, by any means. Just helpful criticism.

Some people paint their rifles for that ultimate stealth job... some people just do it to break up the all-black look... while others break out the blaze orange and smurf blue paints and do it for sh*ts and giggles. Guess I should have asked what your motive in doing it, and your surrounding environment was.

:D

I'm just doing it because I'm bored.

Kinda reminds me of the 3rd Waffen SS Panzers, Summer 1944... Great thing about paint, can redo it again. Still, it's kinda growing on me. I might keep it like this

Nice work and a good project for you and your son. This may be a nudge for me to paint my first AR and leave my second black.

Yep, thanks for the Kick in the arse to get my paint flowing... Though I am still looking at it sideways... maybe repaint it tomorrow?
