Got a call from a lady at Xtreme saying I won some free crap. 1k 165gr 9mm bullets apparently - joy lol.

Anyways, wtf - seems like a subsonic heavy hitter anyone have experience loading for it?

Congratulations.

Those are super heavy for a 9mm handgun. Are they perhaps light rifle bullets?

I'm curious if there is a legitimate load for that bullet for 9x19.

Edit: After some searching, some people are using them for competition. Apparently they produce lighter perceived recoil. Because they're so slow. 750-800 fps. Edited by Clod Stomper

From the dudes at Arfcom they work from 2.4-2.8 gr of TiteGroup with hand tailored OALs.

Mostly race guns or people running 9mm revovlers.

Figures id win the stupidest 9mm created lol

I have a race gun and use 147's. I can't say I have even heard of someone using 165gr bullets in a 9mm, but that doesn't mean much either.  I basically find what I like and stick with it.   I would think you would need to have a custom chamber to really use them.

Figured. The thread I read said it was one of Xtremes sponsored shooters using a CZ75 and a Unity Glock 17 - if that makes a difference idk.

Might end up trying to trade them - never wanted to go above 124gr in 9mm anyway.

Ill still do some research and try to get them to work either way

I suspect the main reason to use them is to make it easier to qualify the load for the 9MM Major power factor.  Much easier to hit Major at lower speeds with such a heavy bullet.

I've used them for quiet suppressor loads.  I used 2.8gr HP-38....soft shooting and really quiet.  Functioned fine out of a G17 and a 1911.

What was your OAL for the G17? Ill be experimenting with them in my 17L for future GSSF matches

147's are hard to keep short enough to work. These would really have to be pushed in and I can see where it would be easy to go from squib to over pressure. The 38 super crowd might have better luck with the longer case.

I'll have to check my notes when I get home, but it may not help you because I'm using an aftermarket Silencerco barrel.
