Does anyone have any knowledge (or opinons) about this rifle? I saw one for cheap in 300WM, but I'm curious if it's a decent rifle. I usually look at Savage if I don't want to pay a lot but how about the mossberg?

I really don't know what to tell you on this because, they might have improved the basic action. But, I had a Mossberg 100 ATR that was a piece of crap. It shot great but, the bolt was built really cheap and I broke 3 extractors before I just sold the thing. The 3rd and last time I just fixed it and sold it. The guy thought he got a great deal. Maybe he did, because it may've never happened again. Please don't let me deter you on this. That's not my plan. But, I would look at the bolt and everything before I put down any money. They may've improved them a lot. By the way I own 2 Savage 110's. Love'em. I did look at a Youtube video with Ron Spomer and he liked the Patriot. He liked the stock and feel of it a lot. He does not like the way the bolt will open when the safety is on or off. I don't either but, he pretty much liked everything else. Just look one over and see. Sorry for the long post.

I don't really think they're that awesome. The bolts feel incredibly loose, and the whole action feels cheaply built and loose of tolerance. I've fiddled with a lot of them and have never been impressed. The ATR was not well received, and the Patriot just feels like a mildly revised doubletake.

I'll say it again, like every other rifle thread, look at the Savage offerings in the same price bracket. Better build, tighter tolerance, greater value. :-)

Hey I'm just impressed it's a new Mossberg design that doesn't have an M4 stock, chainsaw grip, or muzzle brake from a .50BMG.

:pleased:

Thanks for the input.

I was actually looking at the rifle for a gift for someone else and needed to keep it under a budgeted amount. I have a Savage 110, and I was looking for another one similar when I ran across the mossberg. I may just keep looking for a 110 or an 11 at a good price ($280 range).

I found my Savage 110 with a scope at a pawn shop a few months ago for $269. If only I could find that deal again!

C'mon, you know you want them to put that brake on the Zombie 30-30! Hahaha! Maybe adapt it feed from modded AR mags, and put a light/laser combo in place of the tube magazine!

I haven’t used a Patriot, but I have an MVP. The MVP is pretty nice. It’s not nearly as nice as my 700 VLS, but it’s near the cost either.
