Renting a truck for CDL test?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of a place I can rent a truck and trailer for my CDL road test in the Memphis area? I will be taking the knowledge tests this week and just don't see any other way to get a truck for the road portion. This can't be an uncommon thing to encounter. Thanks.

Wish I had a good answer for you.  Your profile says Moscow.  I have some land a little further out in Michie but there are a ton of guys with small logging operations that all have their own trucks.  Maybe there is someone in your area that could help out.

i may end up just getting a class B since i can more easily find that size truck with air brakes. Then just trying to get an A if the job requires it using their equipment. I am not planning on driving OTR or anything. Just as a supplement to a city job.

Even if you can rent one, you'll have to have a CDL driver take it to the dmv for the test. When I took mine the first question they asked was who was with me (I had a CDL permit) to bring the truck to the testing station. If you drive it over yourself with just a permit it's an automatic fail and possibly a fine.

Need to check you might not be allowed to use a rental at the dmv call them and double check first another option would be call the local Technology center to you and ask if they offer the test instead of going to the dmv that is how i did mine at the time there were only two dmv employees in middle Tennessee that could give the test and both were booked 5 mouths out and I only had 90 days to get mine and be able to keep my job

I just found out that Road Master in Millington actually gives the road tests and will furnish a truck for a fee. I'd prefer to be familiar with the truck before hand but I'll take what I can get.

My ex had a B with a A-learners permit.   Check the local truck driving schools, I bet they could give you a check-ride with the license cheaper than you could rent a truck.

Thrust me this is the way to do it
